Themed list: Founderfics

Founderfics (fics that feature or are about Hogwarts founders), for Naatz for answering my “Snape pursues Harry” challenge.
What I take:
- fics where we can see Hogwarts Founders: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Salazar Slytherin, any one of them or all together.
- it can be a ‘pure’ Founderfic, i.e. historical fic where we can see the Founders in their time (10th century).
- it can be a time-travel fic where one (several) of canon characters travel(s) a thousand years back in time and meet(s) the Founders or, on the contrary, where one of the Founders travels forward to the modern era.
- it can be a portrait of a Founder only if it plays a significant part in the fic.
King Draco’s code, or What I don’t take:
- no Merlin fics if there are no Founders;
- no Highlander cross-overs;
- no portraits of the Founders if all they do is say a couple of words. A portrait must play a significant part in the fic or be a real character of the fic in some way;
- no fics where there’s only some Founder’s heirloom, be it an artifact, a book written by them or something else of the kind;
- no fics where the Founders are just mentioned / spoken of. We must see them as actual characters in the fic;
- no fics where there are heirs of the Founders but no Founders themselves or if the Founders appear briefly, only for the sake of proving/explaining the heritage;
- kill Mary Sue! I won’t accept a fic where there are suddenly Salazar and Rowena’s super-powerful heirs in a college in America even if there are the Founders themselves in the fic;
- absolutely no WIPs that have only a chapter or two written. I’ve seen dozens of abandoned fics while searching;
- no drabbles;
- do not bring fics you haven’t read;
- do not bring fics you didn’t like;
- do me a courtesy, please, do not leave only a link. I’d appreciate the following info: author, title, pairing, rating, WIP status; which of the Founders we are told about and how it’s done.
Fics are sorted by TITLE in alphabetical order (articles excluded, i.e. The Weight of History is placed under ‘W’).
These are NOT my recs; it’s just a themed listing.
I feel compelled to warn you that some of the fics here might be awful in the respect of historical accuracy, as in, the author simply transfers our modern customs and views into the 10th century.

Summary: “Harry is swept away from Hogwarts and finds himself falling into a seductive darkness, yet all he really wants is to go home… ” White on white further ‘cos it’s a spoiler: Harry is sent back in time where he is turned into a vampire. Farther into the story he meets up with Salazar who has just lost his wife in a potions accident.

Original Request: Rowena Ravenclaw loves Salazar Slytherin but knows that his views are poisoning the school; she also suspects that he may be preparing to leave Hogwarts, leaving behind something unpleasant. How does she deal with being caught between her desire to protect Hogwarts and her loyalty to Salazar? Alternate pairings that you’d be happy with for this scenario: Feel free to substitute Helga Hufflepuff or Godric Gryffindor for Rowena Ravenclaw. Harry is in for an interesting year!” Harry is called back in time to train with various ancestors, after going through two of them, he gets to the Founders time.

Salazar/Rowena, NC-17, short. Summary: Rowena Ravenclaw is a reasonable, intellectual, and pragmatic woman – until one Salazar Slytherin comes along.

Short. Summary: “There is one more thing the Founders must do for Hogwarts. Borrows from Arabella’s Before the Beginning (see above).
The Last Wyvern, by Essy #
G; gen; short. Summary: “The Last Wyvern is a fable told by the four founders in an attempt to direct the attentions of their students. Each founder ended the tale at a different point with a different moral and all four versions are recorded here as they appear on page 1267 of Hogwarts: A History.” There are no actual Founders in this fic, only 4 short fables told as if by them, but the idea is interesting, so let it be here.

PG-13; novel-length; AU. Summary: “Her landlady married a dog and had his baby. Her little sister is far too smart. She helped to steal two little boys, one with a famous scar, and her husband is a werewolf. Her name is Danger. This is her story.” The story has two sequels and several one-shot companion pieces which can all be found at the author’s profile. They all get to meet the Founders in dreams.
Marriage Law, by teshara
Snape/Hermione; R; novel-length, WIP (?). Summary: “My version of Book 8 disguised as a WIKTT Challenge. Arranged marriages. Russia. Secret Societies. Amazons. Sensible romance.” The rooms in Hogwarts that Severus occupy were created by Helga Huffelpuff a long time ago. There are lots of her original inventions there. One day Hermione discovers a very active portrait of Helga.

Everything was falling into place for him, and he was set to become the most influential wizard in his time. But, why then did he choose to help found Hogwarts instead?

Godric/Salazar, PG-13, short. Summary: Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin SLASH. ‘To love Salazar is to be bruised by love’.

This is the author’s summary:
“Godric walked across and Salazar pulled him down, and they moved like pale fire.” Harry finds it’s all too easy to slip, and the past is bleaker than he believed.
The author has given it a ‘15′ rating. It contains Salazar (Harry)/Godric slash and some Salazar/OC (female). It is a complete fic.
Essentially, Harry is forced to travel back to the time of the Founders, where he meets Godric and becomes Salazar Slytherin. Finally, he returns to the future- with the other Founders in tow. Very dark, very moving, a little disturbing in places. Lirance has a very distinctive style.
