Here is part 2 of childhood fics: fics where canon characters have children/grandchildren.

RULES:

What I take:

- our theme is children. I can’t emphasise it enough. I accept fics where a child is a subject and not just an object, be it of parental affection, tuition, or anything else. We should see his/her character in action, we should see him/her play, speak, be ill, cause mischief etc. We should see personality!
- a child should if not be the main theme of the fic then at least take a big part in it.
- age limitation is 11 years. I’m ready to make exceptions for the fics where somebody’s children are at Hogwarts but in this case I must be absolutely certain that a) children are the main focus of the fic; b) it’s not a typical Mary Sue plot where “Snape’s daughter enters Hogwarts and then has wonderful adventures there”. I’m warning you that I won’t accept it unless a big part of it is devoted to the backstory of Snape’s parental care. So better don’t even try them, or if you do, you’ll have to convince me that I should take it.
- het, slash, gen are OK.
- adopted children fit, too, and just OC children as well.
- Important: I’m not taking fics with epilogue generation children.

Won’t do:

- if a child is just an object, if we can’t see his/her personality. So, NO MPreg fics where all we can see of a baby is how it’s fed or how its nappies are changed. Such fics go to the MPreg list.
- no fics where we are just told that characters have children or where we can only briefly see them enter the scene and leave it.
- absolutely NO Mary Sue!
- no “Severitus fics” because, since they involve Harry’s childhood, they are likely either already in the first part of this list or on Enahma’s list of completed ‘Severitus fics’.
- no WIPs that have only a chapter or two written;
- no drabbles;
- do not bring fics you haven’t read;
- do not bring fics you didn’t like;
- do not bring fics the authors of which show no grammar or spelling skills even if you liked them;
- do me a courtesy, please, do not leave only a link. I’d be really grateful if you tell me (besides the title and author) whether the fic is a WIP or completed, what the pairings and the rating are, and whose children it’s about.

Harry/Draco, PG, 12K words. Summary: Yes, but it’s Draco’s turn to tell that story, and that makes him the bloody hero for once. Warnings: Cracktastic premises, Fractured fairy tales (specifically Snow White :P), Too many Weasley offspring, Adventures in babysitting.

Anger Management and its sequel, Control Therapy, by Koanju (idiotparade) and Saeva
Harry/Lupin, Harry/Luna; NC-17 and R, long. Summaries: “Harry Potter has a lot of anger. Remus Lupin has a lot of experience. Luna Lovegood has a lot going on. And some solutions work better than others. MILD S&M” and “Harry is facing the consequences of his actions: his friends, his lover, and even Voldemort. Sequel to Anger Management and second in a trilogy.” We get to meet Remus Lupin’s son Matthew.

Arthur Comes Out, by darth_stitch

Autumn’s Gift, by momma_dar
PG-13/R; discontinued WIP. Summary: “17 year old Harry Potter returns for his seventh and final year at Hogwarts trying to cope with the suspcious death of his girlfriend, becoming a father to his 3 month old son, and dealing with the continued threat of Voldemort and his Deatheaters.”

Beautiful Boy, by ragdoll
Bill/Tonks gen, G, short. Summary: A day in the life of Gawain Edward Weasley, age 3. Sequel to Survivors (Bill/Tonks, NC-17, short; locked).

Betrayed, by Katydidnt NR
PG, long. Summary: “In his fifth year Harry Potter was framed for murder and sentenced to Azkaban. Ten years later his innocence is proven. What will Harry do? Written Pre-OotP.” The main part of the story is from the POV of Harry’s eldest daughter, Courtney, as she starts at Hogwarts. Harry has completely cut himself off from the Wizarding World and has changed his whole identity so Courtney is totally unaware that she is the child of a famous wizard. The story also has in it the presence of Courtney’s younger brother, Michael and a number of other children of canon characters who are students at Hogwarts at the same time as Courtney.

Birthday Surprises, by Lolly Phoenix NR
Gen (?), PG. Novel-length. Summary: “Harry receives a rather unusual 17th birthday present from the Headmaster. A present that changes anything and everything.” Harry takes care of baby triplets.

The Bound Prince Series, co-authored by Slashpervert and Sayingsorry_hh NR
Consists of: Harry Potter and the Bound Prince, Harry Potter and The Secret Keeper, Harry Potter and The White Queen, Harry Potter and The Beloved Incubus, Harry Potter and The Serpent King, and Harry Potter and The Dragon’s Treasure. Harry/Draco, NC-17, novel-length. Warnings: in the fic post. Summary: Our story begins with the simple premise of “what if” something changed in the bathroom scene so that Harry and Draco talked instead of throwing hexes. It also takes the assumption of unvoiced attraction between the two. Draco takes a chance and kisses Harry. Once sparked, their mutual desire and exploration becomes the driving force in the alternative ending to that of Half-Blood Prince. Draco’s “mission” from Voldemort turns out to be more complex than that presented in canon and their solution even more difficult. Books 4-6 fit this list.

PG; Gen; novel-length. Summary: “Harry wakes up in an unfamiliar house with an unfamiliar son. His son, Arthur, must overcome his Muggle background to help his father regain the life he lost track of fifteen years ago as well as cope with his own sudden introduction to the wizard world.”

Bring Me to Life, by I Got Tired of Waiting
Harry/Snape; R, long; complete. Sequel to Pledges, by Amireal. Summary: “The story of Severus and Harry and a portrayal of the ties between them, spanning over a century.” Lots of children.

Broken Promises by Richan NR
Harry/Snape implied, Harry/Sirius/Remus; R; short. Character Death and MPreg warnings. Summary: “Harry’s heart is broken. Can Remus and Sirius heal it?” Harry’s son Alastair plays a main role in it.

Building a Family, by Anita Dapperens
Snape/Lupin, PG-13, novella. Summary: “Remus decides to help out with the war orphan situation by becoming a foster parent. However, werewolves are prohibited from adopting, and Remus is devastated when it becomes clear that a child he had hoped would be with him forever is going to be removed from his home.” An OC nine-year-old boy.

Call it Love, by Pissed off Eskimo (eskimosatan) (scroll down to find it)
Harry/LM; R (?) Mpreg; Rape; chaptered fic. Summary: “Lucius Malfoy has finally gotten his hands on his five year obsession, Harry Potter.” It centers on a child that Harry and Lucius have together. The child is about 5 years old in the fic, and actually has a pretty big part in the fic.

Call me Mr Potter, by Pokari (available only up to ch. 9)
Harry/Draco; PG; WIP; chaptered fic. Mediwizard Harry is hired to work as a nanny for 5-year-old Malfoy twins by the single father Draco Malfoy.

From the 10th story on, Ron’s and Hermione’s newborn daughter Ruby is one of the main characters.

Harry/Draco, past Harry/OFC, R, ~12K. Summary: When Harry mysteriously returns to Hogwarts with a son and a new attitude, everyone seems to know more than Draco, and that is most definitely not on.

Daddy won’t leave you, Henry, by bruno_greengras
Gen; PG; short. Summary: “A bucket filled with toys stood alone on the step up to the door. Everything carried an air of peace and contented calm. But facades are never to be trusted, she mused. Harry’s wife has died, and Hermione comes to visit him and his son to see if Harry’s all right. He’s not.” Harry has a 5-year-old son Henry.

Dark Gods in the Blood, by Hayseed #
Snape/Hermione; R; novel-length. Summary: “A wandering student comes home, a broken man pays his penance, and a gruesome murder is both more and less than it seems. Some paths to self-discovery have more twists and turns than others.” Late Harry Potter’s children Nicholas and Alice are very important in this fic.

Domestic Disharmony, by magnolia_mama
Gen; R for innuendo, short. Summary: “Ginny Potter is a wife, a mother, and today she’s 40 years old. What’s worse, her husband seems to have forgotten.” 3 youngest of Harry and Ginny’s 8 in small but significant roles.

Harry/Draco, NC-17, one-shot. Warnings: mpeg, fluff, OOC-ness. Summary: Written for friend of mine, who asked for fluffy mpreg H/D, and one where Draco has some sort of high position. Not much canon-compliant.

Dream Verse series, by Willysunny (or here)
Harry/Draco. The last 3 fics in the series have Harry and Draco’s adopted son James.

A Family Affair, by kishijoten #
There’s Draco/Hermione but I read it as gen; R; novel-length. Summary: “Just after his sixteenth birthday, Draco Malfoy learns of a horrifying plot against his life, forcing him to take on a new identity and adopt a new way of life. Years later, Malfoy learns that time has not stood still back home, and he finds himself dragged once again into the intrigue and danger that always surround anyone named ‘Malfoy’.” Draco has a little sister who is raised by Snape and Sirius.

First Comes Demon, by Kat and Tzigane
Harry/Hermione, Draco/Snape; Summary: “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Snape with a baby carriage… whoops. Got that backwards. Warning for fluff and smut. Who knew we did that!? We must not be feeling well…” Draco has a four month old baby-son named Damon. There’s a Hogwarts reunion party, and Draco brings him along.

Foreshadowing the Past, by a_is_for_amy NR
Gen; PG, novel-length. Summary: “Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts is over, and now it’s time for his son’s adventure to begin. Follow Connor as he and his friends deal with classes, Quidditch, precognitioin, and a mysterious dream that will lead them on an adventure left unfinished from twenty years ago.”
Sequel: Foreshadowing the Unexpected.

NC-17; Snape/OMC; also Harry/OFC; novel-length. This story has the same premise with Snape and Son (see below), only with OC as Snape’s partner and in much more detail, including werewolf clans and their customs. As can be expected, Snape’s werewolf son also has more attention to himself.

Gifts Sequence, by Forever then Some (scroll down)
Harry/Snape; R. MPreg. Family life fluff. Summary: When Snape starts receiving mysterious gifts only one person can be behind it.

Girl Most Likely, by LizBee #
R, gen with some R/H and H/G; long. Summary: “Fifteen years after he defeated Voldemort, Harry Potter finds himself protecting Snape’s daughter from an unknown threat. While Harry wrestles with his literal inner demons, Snape makes Veritaserum cocktails. Hermione saves the world. Neville saves the day. Everything gets dreadfully Freudian.” I’m putting it here as an exception. Snape has a teenage daughter who has such an unusual personality and written with such great care that I can’t *not* include this story in here.

Happy Father’s Day, Harry Potter! by cragarrows
Gen; PG-13; humour, short. Summary: “Harry learns that he is the last surviving Heir of Griffyndor, and that Prophecy says an Heir of Griffyndor will destroy Voldemort. This is why Voldemort wants Harry dead. Harry has a cunning plan to exploit Voldemort’s faith in the Prophecy — or did Dumbledore think of it first?” Quite an unsual take on the children theme :)

Harry Potter and the Child Legilimens, by RandiWeasley
Gen (?), PG; chaptered fic; discontinued WIP. Summary: “Harry Potter’s family was warned by the Order that they should give him better care this summer. That clearly meant more free time and nutritious food. But, when Uncle Vernon throws a seven-year-old daughter into the equation, it’s a roller-coaster ride wilder than any Gringotts’ cart could provide. Rated PG for some mention of child abuse.”

Harry Potter and the Flying Squad universe, by Horst Pollmann NR

Harry/Draco, NC-17, novel-length. Warnings: in the fic post. Summary: Sequel to A Love So Belated. Draco and Harry continue to recover from past ordeals as they work on building their lives together. Hermione/Snape, from PG-13 to NC-17. In the third (Realities and Adaptations) and fourth (Man of Property: Homecoming) instalments we get to meet Snape and Hermione’s children. Summary by helkamaria: Snape buys a house. Hermione begs sanctuary. Hermione blackmails Severus into fathering a child (or three) for her. Things go a bit pear-shaped before the happy ending.

Harry/Snape; NC-17, chaptered fic. Summary: “15 years after the final battle left Harry Potter Deaf, mute and presumed dead by the wizarding world, his daughter gets her acceptance letter to Hogwarts.”

Ron/Remus, PG-13, one-shot. Summary: Three small children are the only survivors of a horrible attack on a school. Ron Weasely decides that someone needs to look after them. He also decides that that someone needs the sort of help that only Remus Lupin can provide.

Harry/Snape; PG, short. Summary: “Severus babysits.” A stand-alone epilogue to Femme’s story Gladly Beyond Any Experience (you should read it first, although the epilogue can be read separately).

Gen, PG, short. Summary: “Harry stands still as the rest of the world moves.” The story’s about the grandchild of one of the main characters.

PG-13; long. Summary: “Aunt Marge’s arrival causes Harry to flee to avoid performing accidental magic again. But when number four, Privet Drive is attacked, he becomes the chief suspect and a fugitive from both the Muggle police and the Ministry. He tries going to Mrs Figg’s but finds unfamiliar wizards there. With an Invisibility Cloak and nowhere to turn he hides in the house next door, to keep watch on Mrs Figg’s. He has no idea that this will irrevocably alter the rest of his life….” Harry’s, Snape’s, Percy and other Weasleys’ kids play parts in the story.

The Ridiculous Notion, by Nattish
Harry/Draco; PG-13, novella. Summary: “Draco thinks he is pregnant, but Harry won’t believe it for a minute. Regardless, Draco prepares for their child with eagerness.” It contains several scenes with Hermione’s son Roger and the interaction between Harry and Draco and him is important to their mindset, especially Harry’s.

Runaway Dragon, by Silverfox1
PG; Gen; very long novel. Draco ran away from home and has to stay with Snapes who live in the poorest part of Hogsmead. AU and wildly OOC. Snape is a loving father, he has a wife and a baby called Bill. Draco meets many local children. Generally, the whole fic is devoted to children.
Sequel: A Letter to Mr William Snape.

Safe in Harbor, by Jamdownah (weird4hanson)NR
Harry/Hermione; NC-17. Novel-length. Summary: “Harry Potter: The-Boy-Who-Lived? Sure. Harry Potter: Quidditch Star? No problem. But Harry Potter: Single Parent? Of an infant? By himself? Crikey! And how does Hermione Granger factor into the whole thing? Set eight years after Hogwarts.” There’s a sequel, Above It All, in which the daughter, Emerson, is attending Hogwarts and Harry is married with other children at home, and an outtake from the same universe, Rubber Chickens and Cake, where there’s Emerson’s first birthday party.

Saturn Returns, by Azhure NR
Harry/Draco; post-Hogwarts; NC-17, novel-length. Summary: “On the eve of his 30th birthday, Harry Potter is facing his Saturn Return. He seemingly has a charmed life - one that every wizard wants. Does he continue to live a lie, or does he confront the person who could help him to move on with his life?” Harry has a son and Draco has a daughter. It starts a bit before the children become Hogwarts students. One of the issues is tense relationship with Draco’s daughter.

Summary: “Beginning with Draco’s unexpected arrival at the Dursleys, Harry’s summer becomes filled with activity and many secrets. He generates several unexpected allies as he finds himself actively becoming the leader of the Light side.” Draco has a child.

Harry/Snape, NC-17, novel-length. Warnings: Rimming, Original Character Death (Non-canon character). Summary: “What if Harry had not been given the entire prophecy by Albus Dumbledore? Years later, forever changed by that second part of the prophecy, Severus and Harry are pulled together again, this time by a common love of flowers and gardens.” Bill and Fleur’s child Winnie is one of the main characters.

Harry/Draco; PG-13, novella. Summary: “Sixteen years after he last clapped eyes on the Boy Who Lived To Be A Thorn In Draco Malfoy’s Side, Draco is filling Snape’s old shoes with aplomb. History, though, has a nasty habit of repeating itself, and Draco has his comfortable existence turned topsy-turvy with the appearance at Hogwarts of Harry’s son, who turns out to be able disrupt Draco’s life with as much competency as his father.” Harry’s son Wystan Potter is one the main characters.

Snape and Son, by Josan ##
Snape/Lupin; PG-13; novella. It so happens, that Snape has a son who is a werewolf. Even though this fic starts when the child is already at Hogwarts, I’m putting it here ‘cos it perfectly shows the relationship between a parent and a child with strange and dangerous illness.

Harry/Draco; NC-17, long. Summary: “At a Masked Ball, Harry meets his perfect match and they spend a magic night together.” This fic ends with H&D’s wedding.
Sequel, Just a Step from Heaven, is about their married life (including MPreg; WIP on this site).

Harry/Draco, NC-17 (Harry/Ginny non-graphic), novelette. Warnings: Crossdressing. Character death (not Harry or Draco). And a baby (not MPreg). Summary: After the war, Draco serves out his sentence in Harry Potter’s house.

Harry/Draco; PG; short. Summary 1: “A new addition to their household has Harry and Draco sleepless and more than a bit tense…but becoming parents is worth everything…as long as they’re in it together.” Harry and Draco have a daughter Lila. The first fic shows her as a baby, the second, ABAO takes part when she just went to Hogwarts.

Harry/Snape; PG-13; short. The story is told from the POV of Harry’s son James. There’s one more child in the family, his younger sister Suzy.

The Test of Time, by Alchemilla NR
Harry/Ginny, chaptered fic. Summary: “Four years after Hogwarts, Harry clings to the hope that he can regain the love of his first and only sweetheart: Ginny, of course! But a single night spent in a Hogsmeade flat threatens to undermine his (as well as Ron’s and Hermione’s) happiness. (Follows the events in Midnight Musings.)” Harry is a guardian to somebody else’s kid.

Harry/Draco; NC-17, novel-length. Summary: After Hogwarts, everything changes. The entire story is about Draco’s family life and children.

Those I Can Save, by bronze_ribbons
Snape/Lupin, PG, novelette. Summary: Snape finds that some of the poorer Slytherin parents have named him guardian of their children should anything happen to them. Now they’re dead, and he’s saddled with the kids. Meanwhile, Lupin recovers only to learn that some of the werewolves have left orphans with no one to look after them but him. […] Considering the political climate, neither of them trusts the Ministry.

Trouble In Paradise and Paradise Lost, by AngieJ aka Ebony (you’ll have to join the group) NR
Ron/Hermione; R; novel-length. Summary: “Ron and Hermione have loved each other since their Hogwarts days. Now that they are married, mistakes and misunderstandings threaten to tear the very foundation of what they’ve built together apart. Can their love survive the ultimate test?” Lots of small children.

Unlikely Fathers, by Titti (link to the main page) #
Snape/Sirius; Harry/Draco; NC-17. MPreg; long. Summary: “When Sirius finds out that he’s the father of Severus’ daughter, he learns that old feelings still exist. Resentments and twenty years of hatred are difficult to overcome. In this climate of changes, Draco and Harry become friends first, and lovers later.” Snape’s teenage daughter Victoria is the main character. There’s a lot of pre-history in this fic that allows us to learn many details of her childhood and Snape’s fatherhood.

Volunteers, by Anna Fugazzi #
Harry/Draco, past Harry/Ginny, Draco/OFC, PG-13, novel-length. Written before DH. Harry and Draco volunteer as Ministry and Muggle liaisons for Beltane. Harry’s son Alec and Draco’s son Ben are major characters.
Sequel: Ember to Ember.

What A Malfoy Wants, by Corgi (goldpemcorgi) NR
Harry/Snape; NC-17, one-shot. Summary: “Anyone who’s dealt with a Malfoy knows they get what they want.” Harry searches for and finds Draco and Pansy’s daughter in an orphanage and then takes care of her with some help from Severus.

Harry/Draco, PG-13, one-shot. Summary: For eight years Harry’s been hunting Malfoy. Now Tonks has found him living as a Muggle with his daughter. Warnings: References to past character death.

Harry/Snape; NC-17; novella. Summary: “After a decade abroad, Harry returns to England.” Hermione’s and Ron’s children Phillip, Matthew and Emmaline are Snape’s and Harry’s godchildren. Phillip is shown in the most detailed way.
