The Love of a good Wizard, by Sweetsorcery [] (locked)
Harry/Tom, Pansy/Minerva, R. Summary: History of Magic has something to teach after all, and two resourceful students decide that the key to having any future at all lies in the past, and in Tom Riddle’s heart. Assuming he has one. Warnings: AU, time travel, romance, hurt/comfort, humour, angst, a lot of dancing.
Theoretically, this is very much not my kind of story. It’s light romance. Yes, you read it right: a Tom/Harry light romance, even fluffy in places. Which I read and enjoyed an awful lot. There’s something in Sweetsorcery’s writing that made me fall for it once already in another fandom. That was also a light romance and I also enjoyed it in spite of my general disbelief in that sort of scenario. Worked here the same way: I read the entire (long!) fic in one go, grinning and cheering and having really good time with it. Sweetsorcery wrote it in such a way that I didn’t need to suspend my disbelief; the lead-on is really smooth. So by the point where my “I don’t believe” could sound, I was so much in the story that I was quite sure that everything was as it should be and could only be.
The plot goes like this: in their History of Magic class, Pansy (who refused to take the Mark and is now an outcast) hears that “the love of a good witch” was all that saved Dante from becoming a dark lord. So she gets this crazy idea… and some time later, Pansy, accompanied by Harry whom she persuaded to help her, travels back in time to make a fifth year Tom Riddle fall in love with her and thus change the future. Of course it doesn’t go quite as she expects. Very enjoyable reading!
A Single Love, by Vera (dragons_muse) (requires password; or here, no password needed) #
Harry/Tom, R. Summary: “Nature versus Nurture. If Tom had been raised by Harry instead would he have grown up to be Lord Voldemort?”
After the final battle, when Harry has finally won but lost everyone he loves, he decides to travel back in time and kill young Tom Riddle before the latter had an opportunity to turn into Lord Voldemort and wreck havoc. He finds the child, raises his hand with a dagger but can’t kill him. Thus begins the family life of a boy called Tom and his guardian Harry. Harry opens a shop in Hogsmead, Tom goes to Hogwarts, young Minerva McGonagall plays Seeker, Dumbledore who’s still a teacher pokes his nose everywhere. And much more. 1929, 1930, 1931 … 1940 … 1952 …
Vera is a bizarre writer. I love her fics because every time she creates something very strange and absolutely charming. Please, ignore the typos that spring on you here and there because it’s an enjoyable fic.
Speak a Different Tongue, by Maeglin Yedi #
Harry/Voldemort; NC-17, WIP (on hiatus). Warnings: dubious consent, manipulation. Summary: “Can Harry trust Voldemort when Snape betrays them to each other?”
Harry wakes up trapped in a small house with… Voldemort. No wands, no easy way out. How will he (or they?) cope? Pity it seems to be discontinued ‘cos I’m really intrigued to see what happens next.
The Sun Sets Twice Again, by Proserpina []
PG-13; Harry/Tom; discontinued WIP. Summary: “When a line is drawn between what you know and what is true, how do you decide what to believe? As his fifth year at Hogwarts begins Harry faces a set of problems both old and new, but none so persistent as how is good, and evil, defined. And how does a person become one or the other?”
I knew it was unfinished, but I still read it and I don’t regret. 20 chapters are up, and a lot of interesting things happen there. This is a long fic, with slow pace, started before OotP. I’ll have to tell you something of the plot as a bait. In the summer after the Third task and after Voldemort regains his body, he decides that he doesn’t want to be an old, weak man. He takes a de-aging potion, but instead of de-aging only his body, it reduces him to his teenage self with no memories of the following 50 years. He decides to look for answers in the only place he can imagine going to, i.e. Hogwarts. Thus begins the second youth of Tom Riddle. The fic is well-written, it has a lot of interesting concepts, several OCs, fascinating character and house studies and much more. I liked it. Well, I’d like to have a kind of ‘closure’ but even if it is, it’s worth your attention
Short fics
Ashes to Ashes, by Secret Weapon #
Harry/Tom, R. Summary: A year after Harry graduates from Hogwarts and the Light’s last stand against the Dark is near. A curse goes wrong that, though it does win them the War, leaves serious repercussions for everyone.
Devil’s Advocate and Love, Blood, and Rhetoric, by Ophidiae []
Harry/Tom, G and PG-13.
This story is another example of the humanisation of Tom. Here he is shown as “a spotty teenager with delusions of grandeur,” although a quite charming one, whom “Harry dreamed into being.” The fic is quiet and unhurried. Harry and Tom mostly talk in part 1, but there’s a really unusual way of defeating Voldemort. Pleasurable reading.
Good Little Hero, by Go Seaward #
Harry/Voldemort; NC-17. Warnings: character death. Summary: Harry gets convinced to do some charity work visiting an imprisoned Voldemort. He becomes a bit more involved than anyone expected.

Harry/Voldemort; NC-17. Summary: Harry sees a chance to be a hero, and Lord Voldemort sees a chance to regain everything he lost.
Harry Potter and the Jealous Husband and the sequels, Lord Voldemort and the Shrewish Spouse, Lord Voldemort and the IllFated Dinner Party, by Lady K. d’Azrael []
Harry/Voldemort, PG-13, humour. Summary: “Voldemort has problems: “The Death Eaters are incompetent, his underpants have turned a funny colour in the wash and he suspects his husband still has a ‘thing’ for his ex…” Quote: “Harry had survived the final battle because Voldemort had a mind to keep him as a catamite. Somehow Harry had gotten revenge in a bizarre and spectacular way by becoming a nag.”
This fic is light-hearted and amusing; it’s also a bit absurd, as well. But I don’t think that reading it, you will think that the author overstepped the boundaries of humorous into plain ridiculous so that her fic ceases being funny and becomes annoying — if you agree to play by its rules of course. As for me, the author remains on the brink and doesn’t cause a reader’s smile to turn into a scowl. The plot is sufficiently summarised above. It’s an enjoyable light reading if you are in the mood for playing fool; it features Harry as a nagging wife and Voldemort as a suffering husband and unlucky dark lord surrounded by stupid minions. Caveat: there are typos and errors here and there.
Harry Potter and the Mai Tai of Doom, by Sushi #
Harry/Voldemort, PG-13, humour. Summary: Written as part of the second wave of the Booze Fuh-Q Fest. Harry is 17 or 18 - that summer, anyway; Voldemort is… er, Voldemort.
It’s Sushi, guys. If she sets to pull your soul out by a string, she will. If she intends to make readers laugh, they will roll on the floor. This fic is of the latter kind. It was written pre-OotP, with all that entails such as the mention of a living Sirius and Dumbledore and no mention of Horcruxes, but it’s no less fun to read because of that.
The fic is funny is that absurd sort of way that probably makes it an exemplary crackfic — you don’t get crackier than Harry and “Vols” throwing water-filled condoms from the balcony of a resort in Hawaii. But halfway through it somehow becomes more than that, acquiring the air of wistfulness without losing the “lolz”. All in all, this is a very enjoyable piece of old classics.
Mirror, Mirror, by GMTH (or here) #
Harry/Voldemort; NC-17. Summary: Harry dreams about Sirius. Written for the Revesathon challenge on LiveJournal. Warnings: Underage (Harry is 16). Mindfuck. Dubious consent. Angst.
Rightfully, I shouldn’t have liked this fic ‘cos it’s darker than what I usually like. But I couldn’t help it. It’s one of the best Harry/Voldemort fics out there, even if it’s written pre-HBP. You won’t miss Horcruxes for a moment, promise! It’s really well-written, with fantastic magic and use of artefacts, and Harry and Voldemort that are very much in character.
I even wish I didn’t rec here and that it didn’t have the pairing stated in the summary because as for me, it’s better to read a fic like this knowing as little about its contents as possible. Let it lure you, let it deceive you, let it play with your mind. Let the suspense and apprehension make you fidget. This is a perfect story for anyone who likes H/V but I think that it’s not a story to be missed even if you don’t particularly like the pairing. It’s well worth reading for the clever plot, spot-on characterisation (Harry is so, so Harry in it!), and absolutely best nightmares I have ever read in fiction!

I just found this site and I saw “The Love of a good Wizard”, by Sweetsorcery and I really wanted to read it since I love harry/voldemort (tom) pairings and Time turner fics^^..
But it’s locked so my question is: Is there a way (anyway!) to read this story???.. Since Sweetsorcery’s page is friendlocked, I don’t know if I can send her a message..
