Harry Potter/Lucius Malfoy

Fics are sorted in alphabetical order by title (articles excluded).

Long fics (over 20K words)

Every Flavour Beans, by Erin LaCroix (forestgreen) (or here) #
NC-17. Warnings: Violence. Summary: Scenario 52 in HP/LM FQF: Lucius uses Polyjuice to pretend he is Draco. While at Hogwarts he finds out that his son is involved with Harry Potter. The more time Lucius spends around Potter, the more he falls for the boy. Then, during sex, Lucius reverts back to his actual self, how does Harry take the news? What does Lucius do to keep from losing Harry?” (Eileen)

This story is my guilty pleasure. I clearly love it better than is reasonable. It’s not perfect, and it’s not the best example of writing. It’s just too weird, and not in the most obvious way. I can’t go into details ‘cos it would be a huge spoiler, but I hope I can say at least something. This fic shifts cliché. All we who like Lucius/Harry are used to the two ways of how their relationship is shown (usually, not always). Either Lucius is evil and manipulative, and so he uses Harry. Or it’s a good!Lucius scenario (has been the spy for the Light all way long; redeemed!Lucius who suddenly realised how bad he was; changed under the influence of true love). Here in this fic it’s some third way.

Happy Christmas, Harry Potter!, by Nimori []
NC-17; WIP (on hiatus). Summary: When Harry and Lucius lose what’s most important to them, they unexpectedly gain something precious. Warning: MPreg.

Harry Potter and the Fractured Fairy Tales, by Ntamara []
NC-17; AU. Summary: Lucius Malfoy is Harry Potter’s One True Love.

Ingenue, by Jade #
NC-17; AR. Jade’s HP fiction is password-protected. To get the password, join JadeFics y!group. Summary: Part of the Lucius/Harry Fuh-Q-Fest. Scenario 188: Lucius picks up a young orphaned Harry off the streets while in Diagon Alley and takes him home as his new ‘boy.’ Draco takes an interest and attempts to steal Harry away. Will a relationship form between Lucius and Harry, or will Lucius have to force the boy wonder? Warnings: underage; incestuous undertones, mild D/s.

Ingenue is romance, only it’s an Alternate Reality and it’s kinky. Harry is a street rat taken in by a rich man with the ‘fondness’ for pretty boys. The man, Lucius, begins to train Harry for serving his new master’s needs but it slowly grows into a sort of relationship, which in turn causes complications. You will enjoy this fic if you like your Lucius ambiguous (not evil), plenty of sex, a devious, nasty and selfish Draco and a pure, naive and somewhat girly Harry. I definitely enjoyed it.

The Phoenix and the Serpent, by Leni Jess []
R. NC-17 version is here: part 1, 2, 3. Summary: Draco’s malicious misuse of a potion partially transforms Harry to a phoenix. Using it carries an automatic life sentence in Azkaban, so Lucius has to beg Harry to ask for his son’s freedom. Harry thinks he is an ugly freak, Lucius thinks he is wholly enticing, Voldemort thinks he offers a new means to immortality, and Dumbledore thinks – who knows? Lucius is sure it’s not good, so he is soon trying to negotiate another deal with Harry.

Reliquary, by George Pushdragon (Fee Absinthe) #
Harry/Lucius; NC-17, novella. DH-compliant but for the epilogue.

Let me stress it: a new Harry/Lucius, which I thought nobody wrote anymore. Novella, wonderful 20K words, just enough to sink your teeth into. DH-compliant. Yes, you read it right. But there’s more. This fic, my friends, is also good writing and interesting, complex story.

Everybody was meaning well, but the world they were making after the war somehow turned out less then perfect. Harry’s older and edgier; he’s pretty disillusioned. But he’s still Harry. And Lucius… Lucius is perfect. This is the Lucius I fell in love with when I started reading HP fiction: neither the non-con king, a cruel and heartless personification of Death Eater nor glamorous aristocrat. Here he contains shades of both but is much more interesting. He’s a survivor and he has his own agenda. As does Harry. And then there’s fabulous magic. It’s the details that make me fall in love with a story. Have a look, for example, at this: A young phoenix in its first or second incarnation, judging by the soft, fine tail feathers scarcely flecked with gold, and the unusual clumsiness. Awesome!

Sanguine, a Serpent Knotted Sable, by Amanuensis ##
NC-17. Summary: Lucius Malfoy learns the definition of hero. Warnings: Non-con, non-con BDSM (includes CBT, breathplay, needleplay).

As a rule, I wouldn’t rec at crack_broom a fic from an anonymous fic exchange fest until the authors are revealed, but I believe it’s time and place to make an exception. A new Harry/Lucius fic of such quality is an excuse to celebrate, because it’s a very powerful fic.

Lucius’ escape from Azkaban has finally been staged but he doesn’t get out unchanged, for instance, his hair’s gone white, and however little visible it can be, it reflects the change inside him. Voldemort assigns him a task to trace and capture Draco and Narcissa whose whereabouts have been unknown since the night of Hogwarts attack. Lucius does his best to regain his place among the Death Eaters. Then Harry Potter is captured. Lucius carefully analyses pros and contras and then asks for Harry to be given to him to break.

If you expect the plot to be only an excuse for porn, it will both meet and fail your expectations. Oh, yes, there’s plenty of smut and kink, very detailed, graphic and written so masterfully that it’s nearly impossible not to feel all Lucius ministrations, not to writhe, sob and try to resist together with Harry. But this story is far not PWP. It has plot: mindfuck, clever, dangerous games in DE camp and much more.

I can’t express how much I loved the way the author wrote Lucius. We see everything through his eyes, and he appears to us as an intelligent, three-dimensional, complicated man, scheming and calculating and ruthless and maybe even a bit lost, but just a bit. There’s no romance or love in its romantic sense here, and not at all for Harry, but there’s fierceness and understanding that appealed to me more than any romance could. Besides, not only Lucius but Harry and Snape are also very much not two-dimensional.

And the ending! I bet that whatever you might expect, it won’t be it! Just go read already, this fic is stunning. And don’t forget to leave feedback!

A World Not So Black Nor White, by Amanuensis ##
NC-17. Summary: Sometimes you can’t crawl out of the Pit. You can only be lifted out.

I can’t freaking believe I’ve never recced it properly! This fic sold me on Harry/Lucius and made me believe in Harry/Lucius romance! Just give it a chance and it will make you a believer too! Awesome!

Short fics

Alouette Trilogy, by Nimori (or here) ##
PG to NC-17. Summary: Shared captivity has strange and lasting affects on Harry and Lucius.

This is one of my first recs. Also amusing to read: I’ve learned to “survive” many a thing in fiction since then; learned to enjoy them, even :) But this is still one of my most favourite stories. The rec went like this:

If the author herself says in the warnings ‘very odd style’, believe her, it’s true. You know, I normally can’t survive a marriage in slash fiction. Or, at least, in non-humorous slash-fiction, and even in humorous stories I usually think it spoils them. This was the only, I repeat, the only story where I accepted the main characters’ marriage.

I like the first story of the trilogy the best. Oh, great. I really don’t know what to say except that I love it and that if I can believe any story saying that Harry Potter and Lucius Malfoy can be in love, that’s it. It’s so beautiful. It’s so bizarre. After reading it, I think if I see a lark, I’ll burst out crying. Please, read Allouette Trilogy!

A teaser:

“Gentile allouette, allouette, je te…”
“Plumerais.” Silence for a moment. “Well?”
“I don’t know the rest.”
“For the love of Talesien… ‘Je te plumerais la tete, je te plumerais la tete, et la tete, et la tete’.”
“What does it mean?”
“Lark, gentle lark, lark, I would pluck you. I would pluck your head, I would pluck your head, and your head, and your head.”
“That’s morbid.”
“It’s a children’s song, Potter. They’re all macabre.”

Discretion Required, by Ruhgozler (you’ll need password; or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Harry answers a personals ad in the Daily Prophet. They correspond. They like each other. Things get pretty intense when they decide to meet.
Sequel: So Much For Discretion (or here).

Harry is a celebrity, which prevents him from getting laid without complications. One day he sees a lonely hearts ad in the “Wizard Seeking Wizard” section of the Daily Prophet. He’s intrigued enough to begin a rather frivolous correspondence with the wizard who goes under the name Laevus.

This fic, as for me, is among the best representations of such a side of Harry/Lucius fiction as romance. Let’s admit, light and pleasant romance is not what comes to mind when one thinks of this pairing, and it stands to reason! But there are many writers who like to romanticise Lucius. Dark, cruel, sinister, he seems to ask for it (although maybe not as much as his ‘brother in arms’ Snape). I usually don’t care about such fics because they seem too OOC to me. But some of them exist sort of on the verge of credible and unbelievable - like Discretion Required, in which Ruhgozler refrained from taking the fic one step too far where it could have become a completely OOC mush.

The fic has flaws or things that might be considered as such: typos and small grammar errors, and questionable characterisation. But it’s very enjoyable, especially if you love Harry/Lucius but are tired of angsty, dark or kinky fics or if you are looking for a gentle introduction to the pairing. Light, unpretentious reading.

Distorted Lullabies, by Lux (escapisms) []
NC-17. Summary: Malfoy is a bastard, Harry likes it. Warning: darkfic, mild torture, bondage, non-con, self-mutilation, blood play, under-age, and Malfoy singing (do I really need to mention the angst content?)

Droit Du Seigneur and Fait Accompli, by Amanuensis #
NC-17; also implied Harry/Draco. Summary: Harry and Draco’s wedding day. The wedding night will not be what they expected. Warnings: Non-con, Violence.

Even Lovers Drown, by Hijja (or here) #
R. Warnings: Character death. Summary: Months ago, Harry Potter seduced Lucius Malfoy in order to gain access to his secrets for Dumbledore. Now, as he lies dying after the final battle against Voldemort, he has to confront the Malfoys one last time.

An Eye for an Eye, by Isis #
NC-17. Warnings for a wedding (I dunno, I figure that needs a sap warning), non-con, and… eh, that’d be giving it away. [Recognize this warning? Then you know what’s coming…] Summary: Lucius invokes an ancient wizarding law; Harry pays the price.

Free Bird, by jaylee_g [] (locked)
R.

Hell is for Children, by Lux (escapisms) #
NC-17. Challenge: An abused Harry runs away from the Dursleys’ home during the summer. On the streets of Hogsmeade, he runs into either Snape or Lucius, who offers him alternative living arrangements… for a price. Warnings: non-con, underage, bit of violence, blood play, angst.

Kings of the Wheel, by Hijja ##
R. Summary: Harry Potter makes a deal with fate. Lucius Malfoy makes a deal with Harry Potter. Both pay a high price for their choices. Warning: character death.

This is a sad and beautiful story, a story about choices and their repercussions, some foreseeable, some unexpected. One day amidst the despair of war and death a young man has a most insane idea. He goes and puts it into action. The wonderful and horrible idea doesn’t work as he hoped it would. But he moved something, and the wheels of fate can’t keep rolling as if he didn’t.

This is a fic to read when you want a good cry. Exquisite, even. It’s not a well of sentimentality; Hijja doesn’t make Lucius suddenly see the light, go out of character to save Muggle babies and sing heartfelt epitaphs, mourning his lover of one night. It’s all much more held-back in the emotional department, and for that it rings true and evokes a much stronger response.

I think Hijja found a pacing that could be called ideal for the story she tells. It was such a fine line to walk not to overdo, not to push too strongly but at the same time make it work as it does. And does it work! Fantastic story that I come back to again and again.

Memory and Desire, by Lady K. d’Azrael (you’ll need password) []
NC-17. Summary: Harry is missing some memories – and suspects Lucius has taken them. I know the old ‘amnesia’ chestnut sounds like a plot line from Sunset Beach, but it’s not like that at all!

A National Treasure, by Lakhesis []
PG-13. Post Hogwarts: Harry goes to the Olympics and sees Lucius Malfoy in the Equestrian Events. He is very well known under an alias. Does Lucius bring home the gold for England? Will Harry manage to catch the attention of the widower he’s thought of since their days in the Order of the Phoenix?

I wouldn’t call it a masterpiece but the very idea is amusing. It’s a sort of sitcom: double entendres and such; a Muggle fan of horses who doesn’t know a thing about the Boy Who Lived and knows only his lover Harry, and the very Boy Who– doesn’t care about horses at all. Wait a moment, which Boy Who Lived? Entertaining reading.

Necromancy and the Art of Broomstick Maintenance, by Veritas (moltensulfur) []
NC-17. This fic is part of the ‘Beloved Enemies Harry/Lucius Fuh-Q-Fest’. Challenge: 49. Lucius knows something about the Death Chamber / Veil, and Harry will do (almost) anything to get the information.

The Prisoner’s Weapons, by Leni Jess (or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Harry takes Lucius out of Azkaban to use him as a guide to Voldemort’s destruction, but Lucius is tired of being helpless. If he can seduce his captor into using him in other ways he might have some control over his life again. But who here is predator, who prey?

This fic is quite delightful and wonderfully detailed. The dynamic between Harry and Lucius is what made me like it so much: Lucius can’t not be manipulative, but he’s egotistical too and can’t deny himself pleasures he wants. After his long imprisonment (part of which is shown at the beginning of the fic) he’s willing to compromise. Harry’s grown up. He is colder, stronger, and willing to scheme too. But there’s the old Harry inside that can be seen as their relationship develops. Wonderful reading!

Spitting Image, by Juxian Tang (or here) #
NC-17; also some Snape/Lucius. Summary: At the end of CoS Dobby isn’t there to protect Harry from Lucius’ wrath, and the stubborn defiance of the boy is something Lucius finds quite rousing. He intends to get his pound of flesh in a different way. Warnings: chan, non-con.

Here’s an example of an evil bastard Lucius having his way with a very young Harry. This is a sort of sub-genre for this pairing, and although the very idea of this sub-genre usually disturbs me too much for me to like the fics where it’s realised, here it’s done differently, with the level of “enstrangement” that is enough for me not to run away. In this story Lucius’ raping a twelve-year old Harry is shown through an older Draco’s eyes.

After the war Draco is crippled, nearly stripped of his magic and lives like a hermit in the half-destroyed manor. In his drunken staggering about his house he stumbles upon a secret cabinet of his father’s. There’s a Pensieve that Draco thinks might contain his father’s last words to him. But what he finds is far more disturbing. The scenes that appear before him shatter what might remain of his illusions, casting a very bright, cruel light on his family and, yes, on Draco himself.

It’s painful and in places sickening to watch Draco watch his father. It creates a sort of effect of a hall of mirrors, because Draco himself is sickened and in pain, but fascinated, too. Draco, Lucius and Harry are shown in a sharp relief that makes the finest nuances of their characters all the more prominent. This is a merciless fic, and rather twisted. But it answers some important questions. How much of Lucius is in Draco? How much of his own man is he? The fic is written powerfully enough to persuade the reader that the answers it gives are true.

Unforgotten, by Amanuensis #
PG. Drabblefic: Beloved Enemies Challenge, Harry/Lucius, 100-500 words, theme: *oubliette*

We’ll Always Have Stockholm, by GMTH #
R. A/N: This was written for the weekly Dictionary Drabbles challenge on the Beloved Enemies mailing list. The theme word for this piece was “ameliorate,” meaning “to make better or more tolerable.”

    Hi Pj,

I love HPLM. It has a slightly other dynmic then HPSS. My absolute favourite is those three together though. But only few good pieces there.

As a kind of thanks for your list I would like to introduce to you En las montanas and the sequel come the maelstrom. This story is loooong and quite different then most of the quick paced HPLM stories. Sorry I don’t know who has written it.
In the final battle a spell bacjfires ad Harry and Lucius find themselves tranported to Spain. They live on a farm. They have to earn their keep, grin.
Less sex more fun. For when it is raining outside and you would like to spend an afternoon reading.

    Have fun
    rebecca
