Fics are sorted in alphabetical order by title (articles excluded).
Long fics (stories over 50K words, long series and such)
Back in Black, by Kalena #
NC-17. Summary: Sirius Black is back from the dead. He’s not alone. Warning: MPreg.
The Miseducation of Severus Snape, by Not Exactly Dickens (or on LJ) #
NC-17. Warnings: Rape and dubious consent, bestiality, bondage, spanking, object insertion, underage sex. Also contains Snape/Lucius, Snape/Voldemort, Snape/several others. Summary: Sirius Black is obsessed. Severus Snape is confused. Five months that will change their lives.
I’m going to link out to Rex Luscus’s rec as an exception, but I think one should definitely read a review before reading this fic, and this rec is a masterpiece in and of itself. Enjoy!
Rats’ Alley, by Fabula Rasa (or at the RS, password needed) ##
NC-17. Vampire fic. Summary: Snape has a dark secret that Sirius discovers,a secret that threatens to undo them all.”
I’ll say it once, but keep in mind that what I say in this rec applies to all Fabula’s fics below.
In this game we all play, the suspension of disbelief is the most important thing. First and foremost, we need it in what concerns the very possibility of certain characters to have a romantic relationship. We all believe in such a possibility about certain pairings sooner, more readily. Sometimes we see that our ‘believable’ pairings are, in fact, absolutely unbelievable. But mostly we don’t, we just accept them as pre-set conditions that don’t need questioning. For me such are Snape/Harry, Snape/Draco, Harry/Draco, Harry/Sirius, Harry/Remus. In Snape/Lupin fiction I’m also ready to take it as ‘normal’ settings but a bit more cautiously. With Snape/Black my disbelief usually surges up.
It’s not the place to try and figure why I believe in certain pairings more than in others. But it’s the place to say that I love Fabula Rasa, because every time I open a fic of hers, my disbelief in Snape/Black quits mattering.
Fabula is a Snape/Black OTPer (it doesn’t mean she never writes other pairings, it means just that the majority of her fics are SS/SB). In her fics, she explores every and any nuance of their possible relationships, pasts, ways to get together, and so on, and every time she presents her readers with an excellent work of fiction. She won’t stun you with incredible devices and stylistic experiments, she’s not stunning. She’s just incredibly good. In her fiction, you can see writer’s talent, intelligence, wisdom and huge cultural baggage enriching it all. The relationships in Fabula’s fics are worth the best relationship novel, and action and intrigue, when there are some, are worth a good action film. Her characters are amazingly humane, deep and believable. How can you not believe in them when they are written like this? Because good writing is the best means of the suspension of disbelief.
Fabula’s writing is a bit humbling for a reader like me, with wide, often plebeian tastes. I do like an awful lot of trash, and B-rated fics (meaning it as in B-rated Hollywood films), so when I read a fic of hers, I’m always hushed and cease my everlasting jumping, squealing and incoherent sounds of appraisal. Because you can’t just say ‘wow’ about fiction like this, you are forced to try and be your most coherent, intelligent, respectful, admiring self to do it justice.
Well, here I think it’s time for me to step from the heights I raised myself to and say just one other thing. Apart from everything else, Fabula’s fics are hot like hell, particularly dialogues.
Resolutions, by Josan (also on LJ or SS FQF, wave 2) []
NC-17. Summary: Snape and Black come to an understanding about their differences.
Stone Cold Sober, by Fabula Rasa ##
NC-17. Summary: Snape and Sirius come to terms with the idea that their relationship may be physical, and then that it might be rather more. This is the sequel to (the much shorter) Under The Influence (NC-17; Snape/Sirius/Remus) which should be read first.”
Unlikely Fathers, by Titti #
Harry/Draco as a secondary pairing; NC-17. MPreg
It has taken a long time for Titti’s stories to grow on me. First I didn’t like them. They seemed to me to be somewhat naive, or under-done, or they made the impression of been written in a hurry without proper development of characters or scenes. But some time ago my opinion shifted. I think I didn’t find a proper angle to look at them before. As I see them now, Titti creates stories with an air of good classical operetta. [I wouldn’t say always, I haven’t read them all; Titti is very prolific. But to say often would be correct, I suppose.] I don’t mean to say they are all funny or light-minded. Operetta doesn’t request it. But what it does request is quick pace, also quick and pronounced passions and light style. Titti is anything but heavy. Even when she writes angsty scenes, the won’t turn you inside out.
Now I often re-read her stories as a rest for the soul. And Unlikely Fathers is one of my favourites of hers.
Oh, I see, I managed to say nothing about the story. Well, you’ll meet Snape’s teenage daughter and enjoy bright colours of Italy :)
Medium-length fics (~15 to 50K words; stories you can read in one go but it will take some time)
Cordelictus, by Fabula Rasa (also here or at the RS, password-protected) #
NC-17. Summary: Severus and Sirius try to get closer. Maybe a little too close. A bond is created, with unintended and unforeseen consequences, and the price may be too high. Warning: Graphic torture, rape, and some bloodplay.
Epistula Ultima, by Fabula Rasa (also here or at the RS, password-protected) #
NC-17. Summary: A letter from Snape helps Sirius Black unravel the tangle of their mutual hatred. But can anything change?
Pathetic, Pathetic 2: Clutching, by Arachnethe2 #
G and NC-17. Series is WIP, these parts are finished; you can also find both at the Thin Line. Summary: One day Sirius found Snape’s book and with that the things actually started.
Snape is reading a gay romance novel. Are you ready to believe it? Don’t hurry with a ‘no’. The way Arachnethe2 writes it here is very credible, and also believable is the way she includes the events of OotP in her fic. I shouldn’t have liked it because it’s 1st person narration, but I did. I liked it a lot and I can’t wait for the next part of the series. Don’t worry, it’s not quite WIP. This fic can easily be read as a stand-alone. It’s understated, slow and strange. And warm. Wonderful fic.
Repechage, by Fabula Rasa (also here or at the RS, password-protected) #
NC-17. Summary: It’s a simple enough dare: kiss Severus Snape. But Snape’s reaction is anything but simple, and Sirius can’t forget it, or the kiss.
Slowly, But Exceeding Fine, by Ellen Fremedon (or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: How to kill a dementor, live under a curse, and let go of an old grudge. Written for the Snape Fuh-q Fest, Wave 1, Scenario 140: Snape has a personal health problem he wants to keep quiet.
Short fics (less than 15K words)
An Ass of Himself, by Isis []
NC-17. Summary: Humor. Sirius teaches Snape the Animagus transformation. Written for the third wave of the Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest, with the three word challenge: glaring, calibrate, donkey. Gratuitous Shakespeare references abound.
A Change of View, by juliatheyounger #
NC-17. Summary: Dumbledore decides Severus and Sirius need to learn to get along and decides a trip back to their fifteen year old selves might just do the trick.
Fifty-three Stories About Snape And Black, by Amanuensis #
R. Summary: A parody written for the Intimate Enemies (Snape/Black) FQF, consisting of all 53 challenges, answered.
The peculiarity of the fic is that it answers all 53 challenges of the fest. To be so evilly witty must be prohibited with a special act. Amy’s mocking adds to the hilarity of some challenges themselves, and by the end it reaches the effect of an avalanche. I’ll quote a couple of ‘chapters’ as a teaser.
1. Severus’ cover as a spy is blown. How does Sirius react to the proof that Severus really is one of the good guys? (Jean Tarin)
Sirius: Let me see. Nope, still hate him.
THE END.8. Either Severus or Sirius gets amnesia. (Tasogare)
“You’re my lover; I bottom; I wear a French maid costume, but to work, not to bed; in bed I wear moose antlers…something tells me I’m not buying this.”
11. Sirius writes Severus a letter to apologize for EVERYTHING. (Tasogare)
“Dear Snivellus, I’m sorry that Adam and Eve ate the apple, and I’m sorry that Cain slew Abel, and I’m sorry that Lucifer rebelled and was cast out of heaven, and I’m sorry that–what do you mean, too sarcastic, Headmaster?”
Morte O Merce, by Cluegirl #
NC-17. Summary: Sirius goes to some extreme lengths to recover from Azkaban’s torments. This is what happens when Severus finds out about them.
Oral Sex, by Isis (or here) ##
R. Sequel: The Morning After (NC-17; or here). Summary 1: Humor. Snape and Black toast each other’s health. Sort of. Bad language, no sex, too much drinking. 2: The sequel to Oral Sex. PWP in which Snape and Black wake up with hangovers and go to bed with each other.
Sparkling dialogue! Two former enemies are at a wedding — drinking and, well, trying to converse. Every time you see ‘Fuck you!’, the title floats up before your inner eye and — try not to laugh. Every next scene shows some progress in their drinking and, correspondingly, communication. And every next scene is funnier than the previous one.
“Fuck you,” spat Snape. Walked into that one, thought Sirius. He gave the other man a half-smile.
“Fuck you,” he said, clinking his glass against Snape’s. The firewhiskey slid smoothly down his throat.
After a moment, Snape gave a short bark of a laugh, and took a drink as well.
In short, this is an absolutely brilliant story.
Wandbreaker, by Underlucius (or here) #
NC-17. Written for thehp_videostore challenge, based on “Bladerunner”.
Trust Underlucius to create an absolutely fascinating piece of fiction. The idea is most unusual, and its realisation is most impressive. This fic resembles Underlucius’ Green Lights in writing style. I don’t want to spoil it, it unfolds the semi-detective plot in all its gloomy grace and excellent writing. Very good reading, and duly cinematographic.
COMIC Walkies, by Hill # (sorry, Hill’s out of fandom and the art is removed)
R/PG-13.
My tactics of late has been dropping prompts and requests in every fest where it’s asked for and waiting for wonderful things to start falling in my lap. Naturally, it’s a hit or miss thing, but I have to say to those who wish a scenario of their dream were written, this is the way to go. Really. ‘Cos sometimes you’ll get exactly what you want, and sometimes, even better than that!
My prompt in the Snack fest at 12am_nosh was: After Voldemort is dead, Sirius comes back to life, only ironically, death changed his Animagus form. A cat with dog’s habits, a bird that barks, or anything else humorous. Snape has to brew a potion to suppress the unwelcome symptoms.
And it was fulfilled by the amazing and incomparable hill_! With a comic Walkies! OMG, it’s hilarious. Nobody draws funny comics better than Hill! Remember her Old Snarry, When I’m 64…a Snarry postwar comic?
Well, go have a look, only keep liquids away from you not to ruin your computer when you burst out laughing.
You Don’t Remember, by Juxian Tang ##
NC-17. Summary: Snape is amnesic. It isn’t such a bad thing.
First person inner monologue; Snape is ‘you’ — which creates a very intimate and tense atmosphere from the very beginning. The story unwraps in retrospect: first ‘now’, then a step deep into the past, then the pre-history of how ‘now’ could happen. Snape doesn’t remember who Black is and sees Black is his caring lover. The loss of memory means the loss of experience means the loss of his self-protective shell means he’s able to open up. And it undoes Black.
The look in your eyes makes me dizzy - because no one before has looked at me as if I am the center of their universe, as if nothing else in the world matters as long as I’m here. Isn’t it absurd that it’s you who let me experience it? And it makes me feel pained too - because unlike yours, my memories are intact.
I know what I’ve done to you and what you’ve done to me. It isn’t possible to escape it.
I remember.
Yes, he does. And this combination, the trust and blankness of the one and the full memory of what happened and was done of the other, shown in the most painful details and the sharpest combinations, makes a very strong emotional impact. A child’s book, a dog running for a stick… When you are approaching the end and get to know what will be after it, if you’re not screaming “No!” you are made of iron. JT strikes hard; she knows how to hurt.

Hi, the link to the “Walkies” comic is dead. Or rather, hill_ ’s journal on lj seems to have disappeared. Do you know where I can find the comic and what happened to the artist?
No, regretfully, I don’t. Hill is out of fandom :(
Hello, I read this story by nwhiker on LJ, its called Bored. Its about 160, 000 words, 51 Chapters, there are a number of warnings. But, I thought you might want to read it anyways since the pairing is quite rare and its hard to find such lengthy completed fics.

I’ll tell you if I find more. I personally did enjoy this fic greatly, but, you might not. Thanks for your lists - they are simply brilliant.
