Severus Snape/Harry Potter
Part 1
Long fics (stories over 50K words, long series and such)

Go to: Severus Snape/Harry Potter. Part 2: Medium-length fics (~15 to 50K words; stories you can read in one go but it will take some time)

Go to: Severus Snape/Harry Potter. Part 3: Short fics (under 15K words)

Fics are sorted in alphabetical order by title (articles excluded).

Aqua Fresca, by Perfica (Stellahobbit) #
NC-17. Summary: Set immediately after OotP, Harry witnesses Severus suffering under an unusual curse. Both of them struggle to come to terms with the new intimacy that springs up between them because of the vision. If you don’t like vampire fics, don’t read this. Warnings: Bloodplay, Chan 16-18.

Those of you who like vampire fiction should run to read it at once. Those of you who don’t better do the same. Because it’s one of the best (Top-3, I’d say) vampire fics in fandom. Well, in my opinion, naturally. It’s really difficult to write a vampire fic without making it look silly or just a fic for those who have this plot-kink, but Stella here does it graciously. This fic is incredibly interesting, intense and hot.

I must admit that I didn’t like the Epilogue. It seemed to me to be a kind of formal closure. Not that it’s bad, it’s just not as fantastic as the rest of the fic. But the rest *is* fantastic. Go read!

Baphomet, by Ptyx []
PG-13, turning to R in the final chapter. Summary: Dumbledore orders Harry and Snape to decipher Slytherin’s Manuscript, but Harry doesn’t trust Dumbledore anymore. Will Harry and Snape finally get along? And what does the Grail have to do with it?

A Bittersweet Potion Series: A Bittersweet Potion ##, Procul His, Purification, The River, etc, by Alchemia and Bugland #
R to NC-17, long, series in progress. Warnings on site. Summary for story 1: During Harry’s 5th Year at Hogwarts, he receives a highly sought after Gift- but will it be more trouble than its worth? Snape (to his horror) learns he trusts Harry. Draco attracts trouble. Dumbledore, as usual, knows more than he lets on, and how is absinthe involved?

This story, beside other things, is awkwardness itself. Teenager Harry with, naturally, rampant hormones, with Voldemort’s visions and everything else that is Harry’s life, happened to become Snape’s cat. And the fucked-up bastard Snape grew to like his cat. And the cat had an opportunity to see the person behind Snape’s everyday persona. Both of them have more issues than, possibly, the rest of the school altogether. How can it not be awkward, I ask you. Sex in this fic is hilarious and wrong, sexy and hearbreaking, painful and moving.

The story is angst galore; the story, particularly further in the series, is dark and violent. It’s incredibly intense. But at the same time it’s absolutely adorable and, in places, funnier than a comedy. A Bittersweet Potion was the first fic I ever recced (there was only the first novel written then), and I’m ready to repeat my rec every day. It’s brilliantly written and deeply, truly original. I do admit that I like the beginning of the series better than the later stories, but I’m not the biggest fan of angst.

The Boy Who Lived A Bit, by Barbarella (anal_cram_ink) #
NC-17. Summary: Post-Hogwarts, though the War still rages. Harry is holed up at 12 Grimmauld Place with Lupin as his primary protector. Some of the best distractions in these days are provided by one Severus Snape.
Sequels: Wrong On So Many Levels and Care Of Magical Teenagers

This story is very pleasant. It’s romance and it has lots and lots of sex. Hot sex. It’s light, and maybe Snape here isn’t very close to my One True Snape, but I liked him. The story begins at the point where the worst differences between Snape and Harry has been already smoothed. Rather conflictless reading but enjoyable nevertheless.

Cambiare Podentes: Invocare, by Jordan Grant (also here and here, in one big file) ##
NC-17. Summary: A new prophecy comes to light, one that promises death for Harry Potter and enslavement for the wizarding world, unless Harry himself consents to being enslaved–irrevocably and for life–to Severus Snape. Warnings: dubious consent, dominance/submission themes, non-consensual sex, violence, hurt/comfort, and use of druglike substances.
Sequel: Cambiare Podentes: Madurare (or here, in one file).

There are several things you should know about this story. First of all, the fic is terrific. This is a long novel, of which Cambiare Podentes: Invocare is the first part. CP has everything a reader might want: a very tense plot, deep feelings, credible psychology, lots of funny and moving scenes, very IC Snape and Harry. I believe this fic rises straight to the Snarry fic Olympus and takes a rightful place there. You will love it if you like romance. You’ll love it if you like darkfic. I bet you’ll love it even if you don’t like the things it speaks about!

Secondly, this story is a remix and continuation of the original Cambiare Podentes that was taken from the net a while ago, which caused a huge wank. I never understood and probably won’t ever understand what those people thought gave them the permission to poke their noses into the author’s personal life. I hate readers’ entitlement. We are given a fantastic story, and in my opinion, we should be grateful for that and appreciate a good fic, not pester the author, nag and behave like the Dursleys at their worst.

As I know all the parties involved, I can vouch that Jordan Grant remixed and continued CP: Invocare with the original author’s permission. So can Regan_V who betaed the fic. I hope it’s enough to close the wanky and frankly boring topic and return to the interesting, wonderful one - the fic. I can’t quite find words that would suffice to express how much I love it or how incredible I consider it to be. It’s so rich with details of wizarding culture; it’s so thoughtful in how it engages the contradictions between Muggle and wizarding words; it’s attentive, compassionate to the characters and honest about them. It has fantastic magic!

All in all, this is the best present to Snarry readers and, I believe, to all the rest too! Go read, it’s awesome!

Can’t Take the Sky, by Cluegirl (or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: One thing Dumbledore never told Harry about horcruxes, is that they are harder to destroy than to create. When things to wrong, he must learn to rely on the last person he ever thought he’d trust. Written for the Snarry Games.Team Wartime, genres are Horror and Hurt/Comfort, and prompt — Draught of the Living Death. Warnings: Ambiguous Consent, Character Death, Dark, Homicide/Murder, Hurt/Comfort, Non-Con, Non-Snarry Pairing, Rape, Violence/Torture.

It disturbed me. It put a spell on me. It wrang me dry, as Clue’s fics often do. I cried and was comforted. I bit my fingers and squirmed in my chair. I loved this story to bits.

Harry’s Horcrux hunt leaves him almost dead, so much that now he depends on Snape’s potion to function. Not cure, no. Just something to keep him moving. My, isn’t the idea (which I’m only hinting at) terrible and wonderfully original! Isn’t Snape here fabulous! And Eileen!

Wow and wow again. Plotty, emotional, highly creative, complex. If you’re scared of the author’s warnings (in the fic post) and unsure to read or not, please, give it a try! The story is so worth it. And the ending, it’s perfect. Two stars.

A Choriambic Progression, by Mairead Triste and Aristide #
NC-17. Warnings: Violence, Underage. Summary: Harry learns a lot over the summer. Smut happens. It’s all terribly exciting.

Civil War series, by Sushi ##
PG to NC-17. Summary: After Severus’ failed mission, Harry must unravel the mystery of the man’s past before time runs out. Warnings: Addiction/Drug Use, Chan, Dark, Mental Illness, Multiple Partners, Non-Con, Non-Snarry Pairing, Partner Betrayal, Rape, Suicide/Attempted Suicide, Violence/Torture.

Conduits of Sorcery, by Penumbra (or here) #
NC-17. Summary: It’s a Triwizard Tournament year and Harry returns to Hogwarts as one of the Tournament organisers. What he had hoped would be a quiet year with old friends turns to something quite different when Lucius Malfoy shows sudden interest in wizarding sports.

Plotty and hot! I should have waited another week and then read it in one go, but I saw the first line and was unable to keep from reading. The line was, “When Harry Potter Apparated at the Hogwarts gates, he hugged a tree.” Of course I wanted to know why he decided to do it, and so, several hours and six chapters later, I discovered myself impatiently refreshing my friends page in hope for an update. I like many things about this fic. I like characterisation, I like Lucius’ sinister presence. I like magic and Snape/Harry relationship. And did I say it’s hot? It is.

Courtship Rituals, by Meri (or here) #
R. Summary: Snape is ordered to court Harry Potter. Warning: underage.

Crumbling Pedestal, by ShivaniBlue (grazhir) (or here) []
PG-13. AU. Summary: When Voldemort tries to force Harry to duel in the graveyard at the conclusion of the Triwizard Tournament, things take an entirely different direction when Fate steps in to meddle.

First of all, I don’t think this is everybody’s reading. This is a time-travel fic that resembles The Mirror of Maybe by Midnight Blue in many things, but mainly in the very principle. In MoM there’s an alternate reality where Harry spends 12 years, returning to his own time with super powers, changed appearance and name (Ash). In CP it’s the travel to the times of the Founders where Harry spends twenty something years, where Salazar bonds with him as his brother, after which he returns with super powers and changed name (Heru Slytherin). No plagiarism here, ShivaniBlue’s universe is quite original.

While this plot lacks novelty, the fic has a definite advantage - it’s finished. It wouldn’t become a favourite of mine, as I’m not a fan of make-overs even when they are done thoroughly and cleverly, nor do I like it when the hero’s everyday problems are easily solved with the help of miraculous inheritance / super training or other deux-ex-machina devices — even if they are well-done, like in this fic. A reader in me considers them cheating and loses 50% of interest. But this story *is* interesting enough because there are more aspects than Heru’s powers and judgement. It’s a good reading for you if you like such plot(s).

Dumbledore’s Folly, by Dementor Delta (or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: Snape courts Harry, according to an ancient Wizarding courtship ritual.

Written for my challenge and is utterly delightful :)

Fallen, by Jade []
NC-17. Summary: By destroying Voldemort, Harry realises none of his power was his own, and that he is a squib. Months later, Snape finds a dark-haired whore in Muggle London… (Back-up link, at Jade’s site. Jade’s HP fiction is password-protected. To get the password, join JadeFics y!group.)

Havoc of the Opera, by Roman (also here or here) []
NC-17. Summary: Hogwarts stages The Phantom of the Opera. However, the cast and crew make sure the real events take place offstage. Warning: underage.

It’s a bit untidy - typos and such, and the first part is rather slow, but nevertheless the story is enjoyable. Houses are united for the stage performances. Gryffindor/Slytherin play Fanthom in the Opera. I have a very vague idea of the original play, and I generally don’t like it when in cross-overs original lines are inserted into the ‘cover-version’ so I was skipping them while reading. The best thing in the story, as for me, is how the sex-scene is written, it’s really good.

Hello, Half-Blood Prince, by Acid and Sinick (click ‘Next’ to read further) ##
WIP. Summary: It’s the end of Harry Potter’s seventh year. With the aid of the Order of the Phoenix Harry has defeated Voldemort, and the Wizarding World is now free.
Meanwhile, in a Muggle town a snowy owl finds a fugitive from Wizarding Justice. What news does its letter bring?

I already pointed to this fic when the first chapter was posted, but I want to rec it again. This is a mixed-media story, or an illustrated story, if you wish to use an old term. And as for me, this is how a thing like this should be done. It’s terrific. The authors’ attention to the detail is amazing. Every small thing incorporated into illustrations works. They aren’t “just” illos; they are clues for the reader and huge help in creating the atmosphere. Look at all those moving wizarding adverts, they are fantastic! Look at the design. The only thing I can say is WOW. Acid is a terrific artist, but the story itself is very much worthy of the visual part. It’s interesting, well-written, lovely, funny. And Hedwig, the current “main character” is such a joy! If you somehow missed it, run, don’t go! And if you abstained from reading because it’s a WIP, please, at least look at it.

A Hiding To Nothing, by Meri (or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Snape is sentenced to life as an indentured servant to Harry Potter. They both have to learn to live with the consequences.

If you read Snarry, you know Meri. If you know Meri, you know to expect a good long story. This fic is Meri’s take on slavery. Angsty and lovely, it’s a wonderful Hurt/Comfort, rich with the details of the wizarding world and character psychology. Ultimately satisfying read!

If You Are Prepared, by Cybele (or here) ##
NC-17. Warning: underage, character death, angst. Summary: A task he can’t refuse. A boy he doesn’t want to refuse.

Apology: 1. Something said or written in defence or justification of what appears to others wrong, or of what may be liable to disapprobation; justification.

The review contains spoilers for the story!

It’s not the most reasonable thing to write an apology for the novel that is considered classics even by those who don’t like it. But people seem to be divided rather sharply into those who love it madly and blindly and those who see its flaws and deny the story their appreciation because of them. I don’t seem to love it blindly. I don’t think it’s the best story in fandom. This place in my mind is occupied by another story. IYAP is just my favourite story. I’ve read it four or five times, every time it completely destryed me but I can’t help doing it again.

There are many things I’d like to be done another way in this story. Cybele overuses the repetitions of scenes shown from different points of view. Besides, in those reproductions she repeats parts of dialogue. I don’t like it. Such a device is called to show readers the difference in the characters’ perceptions of the same events and thus – the difference in their very characters. But try and ask two witnesses to reproduce the same talk and see how unlikely their versions will be.

The novel suffers from repetitiveness in general: sometimes it seems to be done consciously, like Harry’s exits from fireplaces, sometimes not.

Many accuse Cybele of using clichés too generously, and yes, she indeed uses them a lot.

Some find Harry and/or Snape OOC. To be honest, it doesn’t concern me here at all. I’ve already said that I don’t consider it sensible to think if somebody A is in character or not when we speak of novels, which are long studies of characters and relationships. I believe in them in the premise. Their behaviour further in the novel is well-grounded, explained and shown in detail. So it’s OK with me if they gradually drift away from canon in their development. Besides, in this case, I don’t think they drift that far.

Anyway, my point is – it doesn’t matter. Small flaws like those that were mentioned above doesn’t matter when in general the flow of the story is smooth and powerful. Little things can break you reading when an author’s writing is rather weak, or strained, or inconsistent in general. I don’t think Cybele can be accused of weak writing. If it’s something for sure, it’s strong. And she manages to make her reader forget about anything apart from the great play of passions that is passes before our eyes in her novel.

I believe this novel is a real classical tragedy: there’s love and there’s duty. The duty can’t be left unfulfilled. Fulfilling the duty is tantamount to death. Love knows that death lies in wait just there, round the corner. People are very humane: one has had too much pain to have more; he fights his feelings and tries to escape, but he can’t. Because he can’t escape loving. He is weak. He is strong. He hurts. The other is too young; he doesn’t want to die. He is strong but too tired to be always strong. He wants just a little bit of happiness, all his own, before the end, just a tiny bit of warmth and understanding. They are both as lonely as people can possibly be amongst other people. Together they have their several bits of happiness. But then Harry goes and dies. He’s a hero, he’s worshipped and eulogised. Snape is left alone, only with the journal where the silly boy scribbled his stupid adolescent thoughts.

What this story does to you is called catharsis, in the classical meaning of the word — purification by suffering. It will make you suffer and thus will make you better. At least I believe it makes me better, even if a little bit. The characters of ‘the second degree of unreality’ (the character from a made-up universe based on fiction), placed in a deliberately created, overly angsty situation, make me cry and ache, make me co-suffer because they are so very alive, imperfect, humane. I love them.

Cybele’s ironic summary of her works, IYAP among them.

new Imaginis, by Leela (leela_cat) #
Snape/Harry, NC-17, 51300 words. Genre(s): Alternate Universe. Prompt(s): Tip Jar, Portrait. Summary: When children are threatened, Severus Snape does the right thing for once and finds himself saddled with suspended Auror, Harry Potter. Some people can’t help but be themselves, while others appear to be someone else. And, in the middle of it all, a meddling portrait finds unexpected freedom and hope for the future.

An ideal story for a long rainy day when you have nothing to do. It’s long and perfectly entertaining. There was only one thing that wasn’t to my tastes: how the fight between good and bad guys was written. IMO, writing battles is a special skill, like writing sex or dialogue. While it wasn’t done badly here, it read less natural than the rest — that kept my attention all the way through, which is no mean feat, considering the length of the story. Snape owns a two-part, Muggle/Wizard bookshop. One day a threat is thrown in his tip jar that promises trouble at the Tonks-Thomas Junior School for pre-Hogwarts education of magical children from non-magical families. To help watch the shop, Auror Harry Potter is ’suspended’ and joins Snape’s stuff as a shop assistant. Detective/mystery plot, wonderful details of running a business, lovely and snarky portrait!Regulus. Very enjoyable story on the whole and a good use of prompts!

The Impossibility of Crows, by LoupGarou1750 (or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Voldemort sends Snape to a small village in Spain to find Harry Potter, but the man Snape finds where Potter is supposed to be neither looks, nor acts like Harry. Written for the Winter 2007 Snarry Games. Warnings: Character Death, Hurt/Comfort.

Severus Snape is sent by his Lord to bring back Harry Potter from a small village in Spain. But what he finds neither looks nor behaves like Harry Potter. Instead, it’s a completely different man whose mystery Snape stays to uncover. And then just stays. Please don’t mind the first person, present tense. The story has a complex structure; the author uses various narrative devices to express different personae, for the lack of a better word, and show different time periods, and none of those means look strained. This is a very interesting, layered story that lets you unravel it gradually, slowly. It lets you get used to the characters and their slow changes; it allows you to puzzle out the backstory and magic (the painting!). There’s one canon error in this fic, but I suggest you ignore it ‘cos it’s rather small in the range on the whole story and it doesn’t play any big part in the plot anyway. All in all though, it’s an immensely satisfying, long reading. I think I’ll read it again later. It’s probably the best of what LoupGarou has written.

In Between Days, by Atrata (or here, in one file) ##
NC-17. Summary: AmbiguouslyTrustworthy!Snape kidnaps ClinicallyDepressed!Harry to keep him safe, but nothing is quite what it seems. Warnings: Dubious consent. Channish; Harry turns 16 over the course of the story.
WIP sequel: What If Someday.

I find this story amazing. Abso-bloody-lutely amazing. Really. I had it in my bookmarks for ages until finally Regan_V’s rec pushed me to read it. I’m so grateful!

Now, you see, when I began reading it, I thought, “Oh, good fic. Well, I like it.” But the thing is, the further the better it becomes. Referring to Regan_V’s essay Losing Faith in the One True Snape (yes, she *is* more eloquent on her worst day than I’m on my best :)), I don’t have One True Snape, which this page proves; I’m ready to believe in any well-written version of him. But were I to choose one, I’d go for the Snape in this fic of Atrata’s. And for this Harry, too, especially after rereading book 5. This is the fic where ambiguous Snape and very irritating Harry don’t make me want to close the window. Instead, they make me want to reread it again and again. Maybe one of the absolutely best sex scenes also has something to do with it. Excellent reading!

Induction, by ShivaniBlue (grazhir) (or here) #
R/NC-17, depends on where you read it. Mindfuck; dubious consent. Summary: “A perhaps disturbing look at what one bitter man’s obsession could lead to, and the unexpected results - but for whom?” Harry uses Legilimency to kill Voldemort, but it’s more complicated than just that, and the process is decribed in many details.”

I was told that this fic is disturbing and I think it may be considered as such. But at the same time it’s not. Well, to understand what I mean you should read it. There are warnings for disturbing content, non-con, and chan, but it all isn’t that simple. OK, in a few words. Snape is forced by Albus to resume Harry’s Occlumency lessons. Gradually he inserts different mind-control techniques into his lessons, and soon he begins modelling Harry into a perfect toy he wants him to be. But it’s not that simple either. The manipulator starts getting too caught up in his schemes, and his Galateya progresses too wonderfully for the situation to remain stable. For such a disturbing plot (with mind-control/mind-fuck, with a sort of non-con — it would be a spoiler if I explained how it can be “a sort of”) not to be too disturbing, so that I really liked this fic *a lot*, it must have something more than mere mind-fuck. It has, believe me. The plot doesn’t end with Snape manipulating his puppet Harry. I’m definitely going to read more fics by this author now.

Lachrymose, Gloaming, and Schadenfreude, by Armand Malfoy []
The last one is WIP (on hiatus)); all R. Summary: Harry is an Auror sent to find an old enemy. He’s in for more than he suspected when he realises that some things don’t go down well with two thousand cups of coffee a day.

It’s a mystery/ suspense / detective fic, set post-Hogwarts. Harry barely lives, the ever tired Auror, without any visible pleasures or aims; Snape has gone mad and now he is a criminal on the run on whose conscience there are dozens of corpses. The fic shows the classical scheme of a strange relationship between a criminal and a detective. It’s done well, and although some things are left unclear, it isn’t annoying, and I suppose some of them will become clear in the last sequel, which I haven’t read yet. It’s good reading if you like the genre.

Lest I Wither, by JiM1 (or here) #
R, WIP (on hiatus). Summary: First, you must neutralize the poison. If you succeed, then you may try to neutralize the poisoner…

Life List series, by Lydia Lovestruck #
NC-17 overall; WIP. Summary: The old cliché. It’s the night before the final battle and Harry doesn’t want to die a virgin. Naturally, Snape accommodates him. What? Would you turn him down? Warning: underage.

Suspecting that he won’t live too long, Harry made a Life List. Have a quote:

Harry sighed. “There were other things, of course. Little things, like stay up all night to watch the sun rise, and grow a mustache. I did those -”

“You grew a mustache? When?” Severus hid his grin behind his snifter of brandy.

The young man flushed. “Well, it started coming in red, of all things,” he mumbled.

This is a very pleasant fic; it offers us a good mix of amusing dialogue, hot sex, a nice progress of the relationship that has just started and that flows into the next fics in the series. Snape here is a bit more ‘human-like’ (or soft) than how I see him, but I liked him nevertheless. Besides, in this story, like in any good fic, there are plenty of precious little details. For example (from part 2):

Their arrival at the Ministry was a decided shock from the comforting atmosphere of Dumbledore’s office. Huge banners heralding the defeat of someone called ‘Voldermore’ and the bravery of ‘Harry Potter – the Boy Who Lived!’ trumpeted their slogans every thirty seconds. Harry resolved to stick close to Dumbledore; the entrance was packed with people, all of whom seemed to know everyone else and all of whom spoke very loudly. Like the ministry official who stormed past them, barking, “Who the hell authorized the banner that misspelled that bastard’s name?” and the tiny witch who followed after, saying, “How were we supposed to know how to spell it? It’s always been ‘You-Know-Who’ before!”

Go read, it’s really very enjoyable!

The Lost Son, by Lachesis (or here) []
Sequels: The Ripple Effect and The Vanishing Twin: part 1, part 2.
R. Warnings: Male Pregnancy. Summary: When Harry’s son is sent into the past in an effort to save his life from a Dark Lord, he is then forced to protect his existence from the otherwise good intentions of his parents and their friends.

Mandala-Verse, by Ptyx #
R/NC-17. Summary: Snape and Harry have to work on a potion inspired by a Navajo ritual. Harry has to cope with his attraction to death and weird feelings for the Potions master. Are those feelings mutual? Will they finally get along?

The Mirror of Maybe, by Midnight Blue #
R, WIP.

One of the very first recs I wrote, and it tells :)

One can expect hopeless romance of such a title, but it’s adventures. If I were to define a sub-genre, I reckon the word that would fit best would be ‘Superman’. Harry is sucked into a sinister mirror where he spends 12 (or was it 13?) years while in the real world only 12 minutes pass. When he’s back, he is a 28-year-old man in the body of a teenager. He escapes from his guardians and comes back to Hogwarts as a DADA teacher in a magically transformed body. Then - adventures, adventures and adventures. Why ‘Superman’? Because Harry returns as a super-hyper-mega War Mage. Can do this, can do that, and can solve any problem. Another term for such a thing is ‘Deus ex machina’. Harry/Ash is kind, wise, forgiving, fair - that is, perfect. But in all the naivety of such a device, it’s a great pleasure to read the story. Like Jules Verne, only minus his belief in progress. There will be a wheat grain in your pocket for sure, just have a look :) And I think it’s marvellous.

The most interesting thing here, for me, was Harry’s work as a teacher - what he invents and how he behaves. There are any funny situations and scenes there. The most boring thing is descriptions. The author inserts a lot of new magical elements and a new level of magical society, and therefore has to explain them. Mostly it’s Harry/Ash who delivers explanations, and it’s often the weakest parts of the fic. Harry talks and talks and talks, and agrr. But anyway, the story is great fun. Read and enjoy.

A Necessary Evil, by Kai (also here or here) #
Also implied Harry/Draco; Snape/Lucius; some Snape/Voldemort; NC-17. Summary: After the Final Battle, Albus is pregnant (!) and Lord Voldemort is almost-dead yet again. Warnings: Character Death, Dark, Mpreg. Author’s Notes: “This is a horror story. If you have a weak stomach and/or hate experimental fiction, then flee now. I mean it, folks. No fluffy, third-person, limited POV bunnies here! Some readers may find the subject matter and my treatment of it quite offensive.”

This fic is so strange and gloomy! This *is* a horror story: Voldemort moves into Albus’ body as a phoetus. Albus believes that if they give Tom, as he keeps calling him, another chance, a chance for a happy childhood full of love and care, they will be able to change him. I.e. nobody is bad at birth. Neither Snape nor Harry share this opinion, none of them wants to have even a slight opportunity that Voldemort will be reborn, and they believe that this is what will happen. They plot and fight, Albus is old and the baby is devouring him from inside, but he’s adamant in his beliefs. The plot progresses with the pregnancy, sinister things happen, the atmosphere darkens - all in excellent writing. The story is told by Snape who reminiscences of the events in the past, and his lamentations (”if only we had seen…”, “little did we know…” etc) create nearly unbearable suspense. I was writhing in my chair all the way. Snape’s voice doesn’t sound familiar to all those versions of it we are used to in fanfic, but it’s very consistent and, as for me, credible. Limited POV that the author announces in the notes is a perfect device to play with what is hidden from the readers, and it works here very well. If you want to know more about the pairings, it’s mostly Snape/Harry, with some– ah– steps aside.

This is a wonderful fic, like many of Kai’s.

A Nick In Time, by Tira Nog (also here or here) ##
PG-13. Summary: Harry Potter and Severus Snape awake to an unusual development on Boxing Day.
Sequel: Growing Pains (also here or here)
NC-17. Summary: Harry Potter and Severus Snape attempt to adjust to the changes in their lives and see if there is any place for the friendship they found as children.

A Nick in Time is an absolutely wonderful fic on the whole and, in my opinion, the best of those that explore the de-aging plot. There’s a sort of spell accident (but not quite) that turns Hogwarts professors Snape and Potter to their seven-year old selves. Predictably, they happen to have very different characters and attitudes that are bound to cause conflicts (Snape’s in particular) and create all kinds of interesting situations. I love how Tira Nog reflects certain features of the adult Harry and Severus in their childhood selves, with enough differences not to make them seem ‘adults in children’s bodies’ as it often happens with this type of plot.

The story is so kind and full of real, true humanity that it can’t leave you unmoved. You’ll see what Severus needs to thaw and what would make Harry not shy away from relationships. You’ll meet adult Hermione and Ron; learn about Hogwarts life ‘behind the scenes’ and about elementary education in the Wizarding world. And what is most important, you’ll get charged with love to get you going for months. Lovely, kind and clever story, with a warm, sexy sequel full of wonderful magic!

Decided to add one detail, as an afterthought. You’ll see Snape chase butterflies with a mesh butterfly net, and believe me, it looks good! How is that for a teaser?

No Good Deed, by Maeglin Yedi (or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: After the war, Harry wants answers. Snape’s willing to give them. For a price. Snarry Games entry; team: Angst. Warnings: Hurt/Comfort, Violence/Torture.

I loved this story. Not as well as Maeglin’s other long Snarry, Penance is the Play (see below) ‘cos that one is a masterpiece, IMO, but loved it anyway. I loved the characterisation and the “feeling” of sure writer’s hand: she made me believe that Harry could have a crush on Tom Riddle, and not in the way that “anything is possible in fanfic.” I loved it that Maeglin didn’t try and make a Team Angst entry an angst fest but made it just a good story instead. Well, I actually loved so many things about it that it’d take me too long to list them. Fabulous reading!

Nocturne, by Tira Nog (also here or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Auror Harry Potter learns a startling secret about his former Potions teacher. Warnings: Homicide/Murder, Hurt/Comfort, Violence/Torture.

The rec of contraries. This fic contains many things I don’t like: vampire!Snape, Snape that is 6′5″ (Sirius who, as we know from canon, is several inches taller than him must be Hagrid’s lost brother), euphemisms for the intercourse and male organs, multiple repetitions. It’s verbose; the author explains and explains some more. But! I enjoyed it very much! It has many things that made me not pay attention to the things I usually wouldn’t like at all. It must be difficult to write a good, thorough vampire fic, judging by the number of barely tolerable ones, but Tira Nog does it wonderfully. I know I must say something to counterbalance what I started this rec with (because I did stay up all night reading it, couldn’t make myself go to bed!), but I don’t want to spoil it. I’ll just say that Tira Nog *is* incredible with original magic and romance, which she demonstrates in this story.

Outside The Lines, by Meri (also here) #
NC-17. Summary: Snape is willing to do anything to be free of the Dark Lord. Warning: underage.

Written for Cordelia_V’s and mine “Snape is straight” challenge. It’s a wonderful story that explores the “Snape and Harry have to have sex to defeat Voldemort” cliché. Harry needs to come into his full power, but as he’ll be doing it very fast, he won’t be able to develop necessary control skills. So for that he needs a wizard or witch with a lot of control. After much consideration, the best candidate is found. Snape. Who is, unfortunately, straight. But Snape is willing to do whatever it takes to defeat Voldemort.

The story is HBP-compliant but it nods towards the book rather than uses the new canon info in full. I liked many things in it: sex, how a super-powerful Harry is written, what he decides to busy himself with after the war is over. But best of all I liked Draco. He’s so pragmatic; he so doesn’t want to miss his profit, and I found him utterly charming. Very enjoyable reading.

The Paradox of Existence, by Dragon Light (unedited version here, as a back-up) #
R. Summary: The future repeats itself in the past, i.e. which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Harry has to go back into the past and ends up as a Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts where he is seduced by student Snape.

Apart from the fact that, in my opinion, this story is the best take on the time-travel cliché, it raises and explores many problems that a teacher’s work brings. As for me, it’s one of the most mature and non-sappy takes on the ‘Harry teaches in Hogwarts’ plot. Here you can see lessons, detentions, students’ crushes, a teacher’s tiredness and many, many other things. I love this fic.

Penance is the Play, by Maeglin Yedi (or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: Harry wants revenge. Harry has a plan. But is Harry Slytherin enough to avoid his own trap? Warning: underage.

I can’t believe I never wrote a proper rec for this story! Probably because I was so overwhelmed and so in love that I couldn’t find words. But anyway, it’s hard to say which of Maeglin’s stories I love best ‘cos I love many of them best, but this one, perhaps, would be the one if I were told to take only one fic of hers with me to a deserted island. I thought this fic was a true masterpiece. Yeah. It’s incredible, as for me. And I simply LOVE the ending. Run, run right now!

Pledges, by Amireal []
Sequel: Bring Me to Life by I Got Tired of Waiting (igtow)
R. Summary: Screwed up spells, attacks on Hogwarts, Potions Masters who dearly wish he had actual control over his life. Warning: underage.

Price of Magic, by Acid and Sinick ##
R. Summary: Haunted by the ghost of a former student, an ex-wizard struggles to preserve magical knowledge for future generations.

When one comes across a ghost story, I suppose they would expect either something spooky or a tearjerker. Well, this story is neither. It tells us about the world “after.” The Light won, but Harry died and magic was lost. All magic. Now those who survived are scattered, trying to live as Muggles and among Muggles. Severus Snape drags his feet along his miserable way until the day when, several years into the future from that disastrous victory, the ghost of Harry Potter appears in his flat and refuses to leave. Not “just” appears. The hows and whys in this case are truly fascinating. After that Snape drags his feet accompanied by the annoying ghost — who is stuck in his teens, besides.

This is a very long and slow story, and as for me, the further the better it becomes. I can’t choose what aspect to speak about. This is one of those stories that emcompass everything, and all the sides are equally appealing. Snape and Harry’s relationship is difficult — how could it not be? It’s even more complicated because their generation gap has grown in the last years; besides, Harry completely missed these years - he doesn’t know what’s happened and what life has been like for the survivors. He can’t quite comprehend that there’s no more magic, which is the cause of his detachment. But in it lies his strength, too.

The fic is set in London; it’s so tightly bound to the location that every chapter nearly literally brings the readers there. But at the same time it’s claustrophobic, because the life of a former Wizard in the Muggle London inevitably lacks air. The fic isn’t limited with only Harry’s or Snape’s storyline; Acid shows us other survivors. I won’t tell you who lived and how they adapted themselves to the new rules - read and find out.

This story is a world in itself, intricate and compelling; there’s a place for everything. The pieces fall together to create a magnificent picture. It’s not light, but there’s hope and even joy.

new Reconciling Lily’s Eyes, by persepolis130 (or here) #
Snape/Harry, Harry/Ginny, NC-17, WIP (9/11 posted). Summary: Had Harry known bonding with his former professor would lead him to three different countries, a hastily-planned wedding and his pants around his ankles in Snape’s sitting room, he wouldn’t have quit his day job. Or… maybe he would’ve… The story is also posted in adult-locked posts in the Snape_Potter community on LJ.

I began reading this story and thought, “Ah, yeah. Another story where Harry and Sev go to a Potions conference in the USA and discover their love of junk food. Been there, read that.” But somehow I kept reading. There were things that I disliked. Everything concerning food in this story existed, it seemed, singularly to annoy me. But I kept reading. Ginny was bitchy. Harry looked rather touched in the head, not to mention Snape who was batshit insane. But the further the more I liked it.

I thought it was the style: dry and very precise. But then I realised it was everything. This story has one of the most unattractive Snapes I’ve seen in fanfiction and the most un-romanticised, un-glamorous sex. Often it’s even deliberately unappealing but in spite of it, it’s still rather hot and when not, then striking, moving. I thought that Snape was completely out of his mind and Harry, a little. But by chapter 8 the tables had been turned so many times that I quit comparing the degrees, concerning myself only with the brands of insanity. This is a story about love. But also about obsession, fixation, trauma, war, family, and whatnot. At the beginning, I was prepared to swallow bitch!Ginny, grimacing. But the author didn’t write her this way, and now I find myself feeling for Ginny too. Even the food that annoyed me so much, as I see it now, is a fine detail. So the more I read, the more I liked what I read.

The story is cruel and moving, ugly and lovely at the same time. It’s sly. It creeps in on you and you won’t notice how or when. And I still have no clue about the point it will arrive at in the end! It can turn a dozen ways, and I can see how they all can be logical. But even though I’m wary of reccing WIPs, I’m too enamoured with this one not to. I will be keeping my fingers crossed that it’s the ending that I’d like to see. Very interesting! Go read!

The Return of the Prodigal, by Lachesis (or here) []
R. Summary: “Harry is transported to the past and has to return the hard way… One day at a time.”

This is an interesting time-travel fic. In his 7th year, Harry is cursed and activates a Portkey at the same time. It sends him to the past when his parents were attending Hogwarts. Dumbledore tells him to attend studies, and this time, when he’s sorted, the hat places him in Slytherin where he befriends a bullied, young Severus Snape. This fic contains one of the most charming answers to the question, ‘Why is Snape’s hair greasy?’ I doubt there are many people who haven’t read it, but if you are one of them, go read.

The Same Coin, by Meri (or here) []
R. Summary: After being injured as an Auror, Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts to teach Defense Against The Dark Arts. Warnings: Hurt/Comfort.

If you can believe in a 54-year-old virgin Snape who, at the end, is ready to admit it in front of Harry’s friends, go ahead. It’s long, it’s Snarry, it’s a good cliché-fic, as many of Meri’s fics. Harry/Snape dynamics is difficult as they both are not the easiest people on earth. I would rec it to all Snarry fen but wouldn’t advise general audience to make acquaintance of the pairing or of the author starting with this fic. It’s not my favourite fic of Meri’s, but it was an enjoyable reading nevertheless. Well, 54-year-old virgin!Snape, what do you want? Virgin!Snape is my kink :)

Sanguis-Vinculum, by Meri (also here or here) #
NC-17. Summary: A potions accident creates a blood bond between Harry and Snape. It takes them 68,000+ words for them to work it out. Warning: underage.

Cliché fiction of high quality, works with an accidental blood bond. Novel-length. It’s exactly the type of SS/HP I enjoy reading and this story is a fine example of how it should be done.

Scratch and its sequels The Holly and the Ivy , This Thing of Darkness, by Aucta Sinistra (also here or here) ##
NC-17. Summary: Snape tutors Harry, Harry faces Voldemort, Snape and Harry do the nasty, blah blah blah. Same old stuff. Oh — there’s a cat as well. Warning: underage.

Season of Healing, by Lady Dien Alcyone #
PG, discontinued. Summary: Circumstances lead Harry Potter to stay with Severus Snape for the summer before his seventh year– a development neither of them expect to be happy with. But they both have a lot to learn about each other… and a lot to unlearn. And perhaps, in the process, they can each find some healing.

Shadow’s Side Story, by Jemma []
NC-17. Warnings: Rape-Non-Consensual, Violence, Incest, Multiple Partners, Underage. Summary: Severus Snape presents a conundrum within the canon, as he is a protagonist portrayed as an antagonist. In this novel-style analysis, possibilities are examined and details are reconciled. Author’s Notes: In order to understand the story, it is essential that you keep track of the “Fragmentum” dates.

The story is divided into chapters of two separate timelines: recent (1997) and past events (beginning with 1963). Neither timeline is uninterrupted; they show us only significant scenes. The past helps unravel the intrigue in the present, but thanks to the ‘highlight’ essence of the fragments, you’ll have to concentrate hard if you want to solve it before the author makes it clear. The past and the present fragments go in turn for the first two thirds of the fic, then, still chaptered, it concentrates on the present events, and eventually proceeds far in the future. The fic is very long and enjoyable.

Shadows Of The Past, by Meri #
NC-17. Summary: Years after the war ended, the wizarding security firm of Granger, Potter and Weasley is hired to protect Headmaster Severus Snape. Warning: Hurt/Comfort.

Shattered, by Nym (link to the main page) ##
NC-17.

I never wrote a proper rec for this story, and the author herself isn’t satisfied with it enough to even give it a proper summary on her site. But believe me, Nym is a very good writer, whatever she thinks of her own writing. This fic was one of my strongest impressions when I read it first. I reread it later, and was impressed again. Not to be missed!

Somewhere Out There Story Arc: To Dream These Dreams, To Cast These Spells and To Heal These Wounds, by Dragon Light (or here) #
PG-13 to NC-17. Story 1: Challenges: Harry goes to Snape to talk about his father(James); Snape finally becomes the new DADA professor; Snape notices the scar on Harry’s hand from his detentions with Umbridge and confronts him about it. Story 2: Harry comes to terms with his destiny. Story 3: Harry deals with everything that has happened.

Striking Thirteen, by deirdre_riordan #
PG-13; WIP (on hiatus). Summary: Friday the 13th has some…interesting effects on magic. Harry deals with the consequences.

This story has a really interesting concept of alternate universes. The border between them in the fic is unmarked: you should pay attention to understand which plane of existence is the settings at every given moment. After a spell has gone awry, Harry’s reality is sort of split into two, or, to be more precise, he has lived through many years of an alternative life. The most interesting part, though, is that instead of returning him (and us, readers) to the “real” reality, the author keeps alternating them so that we are caught on most bizarre plot swings. You can’t predict how everything will turn out in the end. So, it’s a really captivating reading.

Sunrises, by Juliatheyounger []
Sequel: Happily Ever After
NC-17. Summary: Harry’s eighteen, he’s just destroyed Voldemort and saved the world and now he’s returning to Hogwarts, this time as the new Assistant Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Unfortunately he’s still not quite over the events of the summer and, stuck at Hogwarts without his friends, with a Professor who seems to resent Harry for breathing, a developing awareness of his horny eighteen year old sexuality and some rather disturbing nightmares, Harry’s not feeling the best.

A Taste of Liberty, by Lamardeuse #
NC-17; AU: QaF x-over. Summary: Before the final battle, Harry Potter plays hooky and learns about another world.

A very enjoable and captivating version of Harry’s adventures in America. Features unusual magic, gay communities, sinister Death Eaters, Snape in denial, good romance (I even cried) and many other things which resulted in my reading it all night long instead of sleeping, and really enjoying it.

Tea Series, by Telanu (somniesperus) (or here) ##
PG to NC-17.

If I make my “Top-10 HP fics” list one day, I’m sure A Wizard Song will be there however many other stories I’ll read.

A Most Disquieting Tea was one of the first HP stories I read. I created a new folder on my HD, divided it into two: ‘tolerable’ and ‘premier league’, and this fic happened to be one of the first dwellers there. The story is short. It’s just a talk between Snape and Albus Dumbledore. Just a talk… Nothing of the kind. It’s an exemplary talk, perfectly expressing mood and character, shining with undertones.

Almost, At Times, The Fool is longer. It’s a rather typical ’school-fic’, with Harry glaring at Snape from across the Great Hall, with students’ dialogues, with their inner speeches. All this stuff here is written very well, only the number of decent fics of this kind is not that little. However, the balcony scene is one of the best HP slash scenes I’ve ever read. Why? I also wonder why I think so. Maybe because of Snape’s broken-record-like repetition “Go inside”

Now, A Wizard Song. Ok *braces self*

The novel isn’t perfect. But sometimes such imperfection is much better and dearer than another perfection. You won’t forget it. Some scenes will stay imprinted in your mind (or, maybe, your heart?) for a long, long time, haunting you in unexpected situations. You’ll dwell on images. You’ll see Snape’s two-word notes floating up before your eyes in place of your work.

The fic is heart-warming. It’s both kindly sad and light-minded, if it can be said about fiction. You’ll never forget Weasley twins, and after you’ve read the novel, they will forever substitute for the original twins. Snape and Harry’s relationship is written in the way slash must be written (and it’s the first part of the series where there’s actual sex). Plot is an honour to the best adventure literature.

Telanu’s style changes visibly from the first story to the last. It’s logical, taking into consideration the time the task took. There are two more stories after A Wizard Song which were written after I had scribbled this rec. What are you waiting for? Go, read and - sure - enjoy!

A Time to Change, by Sansa (or here) #
NC-17. Summary: Harry wishes he was never the Boy-Who-Lived and his wish is granted. Now he has to bear the consequences, namely sacrificing everything he has gained in order to save his world. He finds love along the way, but will it be snatched away from him just like everything else? Warning: Underage. Sequel: Betrayal Can Only Happen If You Love (Four years after Harry Potter defeats Voldemort, Draco Malfoy, the son of the new Dark Lord, is cast out from the Death Eaters and branded a traitor. When an unlikely group rescues him, he discovers some important things about himself and must decide where his heart and loyalty lie. Will he help his father resurrect Lord Voldemort or will he turn to the Light? SB/DM SS/HP).

After having read and skimmed through more than enough fics that play with the ‘Sorted into a different house’ plot, I needed something refreshing. This fic was it. No, it’s not wow-how-original. But it’s interesting, especially if to compare it to all those fics where somebody travels to the past, changes a single thing, and everything in the ‘new’ future remains okay, only improved. In this story, Harry’s choices have serious consequences. Yes, choices, plural. Harry travels to *a* past, then to a future, then to another past, meanwhile keeping personal notes, which he leaves for Severus before departing to defeat Voldemort in his own timeline.

The fic is thorough and really interesting; it’s well-structured.

Two If By Sea, by RaeWhit (joanwilder) (or here) #
NC-17, AU. Summary: Harry spends a summer away from the Wizarding world, working for Severus Snape, neither of them aware of the other’s heritage. Their collision with fate will change both of them forever. Written for the From Dusk Till Dawn Severus Snape/Harry Potter Fuh-Q-Fest Wave X.

This is my favourite story by RaeWhit and my favourite fic from this wave of the fest. I don’t want to spoil too much, but in this fic Snape is a summertime sea captain. No, this AU isn’t non-magic. There’s Hogwarts, and the Boy Who Lived, and Albus Dumbledore, and many other things you know from canon. But the main action takes place on the ship and around it, and there’s nothing illogical there. Of course the author alters her characters a bit to suit her universe. Snape, for one, has had a different life, so he’s not quite the Snape you know. But the characters are still recognisable. What I liked best about this story is that it was *interesting* to read: the life of the fishers’ ship is shown in many a fascinating detail; the secrets the characters hide add the necessary tension. I got to the story in between the two parts it was posted in and nearly went mad waiting for the ending. Very enjoyable reading.

Two Lockets, by Acid and Sinick #
R, also past Snape/Regulus. Snarry Games entry. Team: Wartime. Genre(s): Hurt/Comfort & Romance. Prompt: Grimmauld Place. Summary: Harry, Snape, and the grim old house that keeps its secrets.

Acid and Sinick have a unique talent of world-building and they often write fantastic, amazing magic. This story is no exception. Simply read the opening paragraph, and I bet you’ll be charmed and intrigued about the candles’ behaviour. This is a long and complex story, magical not only in how the authors write magic but also in the very magic of storytelling: what ails Harry, how Harry and Snape’s relationship grows from nothing (even a negative value) to something so that you won’t notice how it happened. And then there’s the very Horcrux hunt — the plot I’m probably least inclined to read about at this point of time ‘cos I’m sick and tired of it. But in this story, it’s probably the best, most credible Horcrux hunt that I’ve read. And then there’s Grimmauld Place — like nothing I’ve seen, amazing. Wonderful story!

An Unconventional Relationship, by TCRegan and Sophie Richard (locked; link to ch. 1, then click the “next” button) []
NC-17. Summary: “Harry’s time at the Dursley’s has left him with some rather odd quirks that only Snape can help him work out.” Warning: underage.

Now imagine a long enough chaptered fic built up on one obsession. Harry cleans the Potions classroom. It becomes a ritual, and goes on for years, developing into a strange relationship. I can’t say that it’s my favourite fic of all, but I found it interesting. It pushes emotional buttons in a bit more forthright way than how I like it, but still, I enjoyed it.

Unforgivable Promises, by Aethen (or here) []
PG-13; abandoned WIP. Summary: During the summer before Harry’s sixth year, the Death Eaters are becoming bolder. Now, Harry must learn exactly what it will take to save himself and the ones he loves.

This is a very slow relationship novel, exactly as I like them. The author set himself the task to make Snape and Harry’s progress from animosity to understanding believable, and he chose the most credible way, i.e. making them move one step at a time. This story features Occlumency lessons, Magic combat training, a very interesting use of Pensieves; Harry who finally decided to grow up, his peers who aren’t that quick at changing, and much more. Pity it was abandoned only a chapter from the end. It was really enjoyable.

new When the Rose and the Fire Are One, by perverse_idyll #
Snape/Harry, NC-17, ~81000 words. Genre(s): Alternate Universe. Prompt(s): Flesh Memory, Spilling Fire. Summary: Harry’s haunted by guilt. Snape’s warded by roses. Each must free the other in order to free himself.

Let me get one thing out of the way first. I think this story could have been twice shorter and still not lose anything, that is, still be very long, detailed, and work out all the necessary issues. Having said that, it was one of the most vivid, haunting, emotionally engaging and interesting stories I’ve read in a while. At first I thought that Harry being haunted by guilt, how it was written, was a metaphor. Well, it is, to some extent. As I see it now, it’s a metaphor made literal by magic. So, during the last battle, Voldemort cursed Harry. Now he’s haunted by guilt and sins. Snape is magically locked in his house. The wards are roses. Scary, suffocating briers that keep Snape in and everybody else out. Harry is compelled to sneak into Snape’s house. One day he’s discovered.

It’s a dark and twisted tale. I squeaked, had my hands shaking, bit my lips, cried, in other words, was completely sold on everything the author wrote. Everything is hopelessly fucked up in the story: Harry, Snape, their relationship. Or maybe not hopelessly. The emotions are intense and even fierce, and you can’t help getting involved, as if you were a third party there. I’m not sure I’ll be ready to smell roses any time soon! Pretty fantastic!

Go to: Severus Snape/Harry Potter. Part 2: Medium-length fics (~15 to 50K words; stories you can read in one go but it will take some time)

    Hi,

    I replied via email.

This rec list right here is a gold mine. I’m sure you’ve heard that before, but I don’t know if anyone has meant it more than me. Your tastes and mine go along PERFECTLY, no buts about it. I’ve read nearly all the fics here, but when I go over and read your recs, I want to read them all over again.

So, just commenting to say thank you. You know how hard it is to find decent Snarry these days. You help feed my addiction… and that is a very good thing.

    Have my cyber babies?

Thanks for the kind words :) I’m glad my recs fit your taste in Snarry.

wow!!! you just made my evening… or very early morning! I’ve only had a chance to read through you’re rec list and go “ooh, i wanna read that!” i swear this is exactly what i needed i was about to despair the lack of snarry stories on the net that i hadn’t read. its nice to find another rec site that deals with super long stories. Now i need to be up in a few hours (damn holiday sleep patterns) at which point i’ll go settle myself down and get started on reading some of these stories. Thanks for taking all the hard work out of tracking down some great fics you made my life so much easier.

This is an EXCELLENT list! I’ve been trying to find a Snarry fic which I read not too long ago. Severus is part-gypsy and he’s needed to get rid of some Vampires. Eileen is there also, wow - how vague can I be? Harry works with him and it’s very plotty. I could kick myself for not saving the link, and I don’t even know whether it’s part of the Snarry games or anything *fails*

    Does that ring a bell?

  7. HogwartsHoney on June 20th, 2008 2:12 am

Uh, disregard! I found it under ‘medium-length fics’
    It’s “Exegesis” by Femme.

    I could cry with glee!

This list is absolutely amazing. I really love how our tastes coincide, and I find myself reading new fic and rereading my favorites. Did you know that this list was the first place I’d really considered a rec. for Atrata’s work? Now I check her page everyday for updates on her WIP!

This has made me such a happy person, thanks so much!

!!!! painless_j recs! I’ve used these (on livejournal ,I believe) time and time again over the years whenever I had a sudden hankering for fic. Seriously, you have no idea how useful your lists are. I can wander away from fandom for months, and when I get back I don’t even need to wade through all the bad!fic. Many thank you’s and
